Unless of course you meant it as a time frame comparison, ie: "That guy's RX has been V8 swapped damn near as long as mine hasn't moved under its own power including the previous owner"  If my memory is right, Bryan first put the LS in back in 2002... And it probably drove around his apartment complex a couple hours after the motor mounts hit the subframe.  I did not help him, he did it himself, did NICE work, and did it on jackstands with a set of tools like you'd find at a toy store.  Right about the time Jim Labreck's hopes and dreams started getting really big, I was at Gainesville Raceway watching Bryan bang gears in his.

unless you own a turbo ls9 rx7 you do not know what the fuck you are talking about.

Haha
Yea, i think it was early 2003. 220/221

I knocked it out in just under two months in that one car apartment garage.

I spent a couple years working on my car in a storage unit in my rotary days too. That really sucked, fortunately I was only about 50 yards from a power outlet and water spigot.

I cant believe its been that long.

Now i complain about not having a three car garage.  First world problems.

My car hasn't moved under it's own power since 98 Tracy. I still have the license plate Jim had on it.  Get it straight.  :yay:

Bryan was probably driving a swapped FD before you had a driver's license.  LOL

Today I pulled the transmission to fix a small leak and do some cleanup.

After the trans was out, i decided to check my circa 2003 spec 3 clutch.
I was surprised at how well this 10 year old clutch has held up to 650-700ish rw worth of abuse.
It has plenty of life left and could easily go back in the car.

Anyway, i'm thinking about replacing it due to the taller gears and bigger turbo.

Anyone have a recommendation? I don't really follow what the newest and best parts are anymore.
I typically prefer the feel of a little heavier pedal vs a light one for what its worth.

McLeod RXT

/discussion

I know you said you want a stiff pedal, but the McLeod has a softer pedal than the Spec, but it is VERY manipulable, you can very easily feel the engagement point and slip it with ease.  It also grabs like a MF'er when you side step the clutch at 7700rpm. lol

Brian,

I know the RXT is good, but I just put a Spec Super Twin in my car and it's VERY similar in weight to the RXT.   I haven't had mine very long, but they seem to hold up well.  It's "rated" at 1300 ft/lbs of torque, it's basically 2x Spec 3+ discs in a stack with a full floating (unstrapped) center plate.

I think the RXT is cheaper though.

Damon, what flywheel are you running with the RXT?
Can I use a stocker?

Bust Tracy's ass to get my car done and take it for a spin and see what you think of the clutch. I have the McLeod RXT and I LOVE it. You can't isr the stock flywheel though. They make an aluminum and a steel one. I'm rockin the steel.
