8.8 irs

For Sale is this 8.8 center section. It has a ford 31 spline trac-loc and 3.55 gears. The cover modification is already done for those who are using our subframe. We have two others available just like this one. Pm me to work out the details.

ok, cause thats been my biggest apprehension about going with the 8.8 setup, i dont want it to clunk or affect overall driveabillity

I'm pretty sure there is just some inherent slop in the 8.8" diffs themselves.  It doesn't affect driveability.... there is just a slight clunk from a start.

^Exactly. You can hold the axles still with the E-brake but still move the drive shaft back and forth maybe 10-15* of a turn.

You don't... it is the transmission that is doing most of the clunking and has the slop in it. The half shafts can have just a bit of slop but that is normal. The OEM gear backlash in the 8.8 IRS is a little on the loose side as well. You can tighten up the backlash and that will help a bit 

My brother's 6 speed Camaro SS makes the same clunking noise my Cobra makes from a stop.

All in all it is not that bad.

Yeah it's not very noticeable unless you are paying attention to it. Although I will say I never had any slop in the system with the Mazda diff. There was no clunk until I installed the 8.8.

It's a very small price to pay for all the positives that come with the 8.8 swap.
