FS NJ: LS1 FD RX7 13k
« on: December 15, 2011, 10:48:20 PM »
bought this in september as a fun toy to cruise on the weekends with, fixed some minor problems it had such as the radiator (turned out to be thermostat and wiring) and wheel hop (solved with samberg rear diff mount). the car has most likely a broken shifter fork now, and i just don't have the money to fix it. the car still moves in all 6 gears and reverse, but pops out of gear very easy. not going to sell if i fix it. other than the trans the car is in 100% perfect shape. this is a great buy / winter project for someone. it was an impulse buy for me and i and i could use the cash for college debt more than anything right now. so help me out and give this rx7 a good home

some more details - 145k on the chassis. 40k on the motor. both motor and chassis vins are clean, can provide both of them. exterior is in good shape, paint looks new. nothing on the carfax though. interior is like 7/10 shape. some clips are broken, shifter boot is broken from the console. no weird smells or anything. said before, motor runs very healthy. when you fix the trans this car will be a perfect driver like it was before. will be off the market around february or march, because i will have fixed the trans by then. i can start the car up for anyone who wants to look at it. starts up fine every 5-6 days when i start it and idle it for 30 min.

car is located in nj. and like i said before, $13k is the only price you will get this car for. want to throw me a little extra, that's your call  ;) i paid a lot more than that, it was listed for $16.5k.

if it goes, it goes. i really love this car but while it's down i need to put this ad up because it's the smart thing to do for my situation.

just a note to any prospective buyer, you need to trailer the car from my house. it moves in gear under power and i can show you that. but can't be driven on any road. it's also been off my insurance since it had this problem, i was going to put it back on closer to the warm months here when i fix the trans.

replacing the shift fork is easy it can be done just by removing the tail shaft of the trans.  Couple hrs tops.

believe it or not i just took the car to columbia and myrtle beach about a month ago. would have stopped by if i knew.

i remember almost buying this car 4 years ago when it was for sale. its definitely had a good life, but still in pretty good shape. looks like everyone took good care of it.

zip code is 07760.

this is a great daily driver, still rides smooth on the coilovers, and will pull on new vettes.

Did you buy it from a guy in Maryland.  I am 99% positive I almost bought this car.  I backed out last minute (not by choice) and ended up losing money.

Ended up buying an Evo but still wish I would of bought this.

Great deal! I will tell a few people about this.
In case anyone's wondering how much it is going to cost to build the trans. I will R&R the trans and rebuild it with all the common upgrades to hold 700hp for $1350 out the door.

Ummm...  no.

I suppose if you broke the 5/6 or reverse forks.   The 1/2 and 3/4 forks (what normally breaks) requires a full disassembly, minus pressing the actual synchros off.

either way, the buyer needs to understand that it might not be the shift forks. transmissions are a new area to me, and i can't really diagnose what its doing beyond saying it might be the shift fork. all i can do is show you the car moving under power in each gear and if you want to see it pop out, i can show you that too.

was bought in maryland, drove back here, daily driven and made some long road trips (south carolina), and then thanksgiving day the trans went on a cruise.

i am a detailer so the car has been kept clean while i've owned it.
