As long as you have sufficient room to swing them open, there is no reason the doors are an impediment during the swap/interior install.   They open pretty wide.   :)

Looks great.   I really like the wild orange color.

Can anyone tell me if this is a decent deal? It's from a hot rod shop. Local. I'm a little uncomfortable buying used long distance. Still learning so bare with me.

I would say that's a little expensive, I would personally only pay $4000 for that.  Maybe he would take an offer?

Firewall. After reading some of the builds, it's probably a good idea. To make it look good, that's another story. Will post the after pic later.

Nice clean job on the cut.   Now at least you won't have to worry about that clearance in the future.

I just saw your build. Very nice! It's going to be real handy for reference. I wish you guys all lived near me. I could trade you body/paint for your services. I can make them look purrrrrdy, but making them run, that's not my specialty. I guess it's going to have to be on this one. This place is great!

Question: Can all the wiring be done after the engine is placed? My plan is to put the car back together minus the front bumper, hood, and the fenders. Then ship it to a shop who can wire it up and make her run. Not that I want to save the cost, I just want to be able to say I did something in the build.

Yes, it can definitely be done after the fact, no problem at all.

I wish you were closer also, my car needs a little bit of paint and body work.  ;)

I couldn't talk him down to $4000. We agreed on $4400 delivered to my shop. He's got LS2 pullout for 7500 and LS3 pullout for 10500. Man it was tempting but in the end, I said to myself, "let's just get her running".

Now, I from talking with few of the members, I know the T56 out of the GTO is not ideal. But it's what I have. Anything I should watch out for before installing this sucker?

GTO T56 is fine.   Just need an F-Body shifter cup and an MGW F-Body shifter with the "LS1/RX7" shifter location mod.

MGW F-Body shifter with the "LS1/RX7" shifter location mod.

This just means that you ask MGW to clock the shifter to the 6 o'clock position instead of the 9 o'clock position shown below.  They won't have a problem doing this for you.

I just figured I'd tell you that cause I had no idea what people were talking about before I looked it up and ordered my own. :)

Custom gas lid
« Reply #28 on: September 28, 2011, 09:41:25 AM »
The factory lid would interfere with the wide body. It just wouldn't open all the way without hitting. This can be seen on some of the wide body kits with the cutout for the gas lid. Kind a ugly. So I made a new lid that conforms with the new body with quick release. It gives it some accent. I kind a like it. Plus, it's custom. ;)

The big fuel door gap always bothered me about widebody FDs.  Very nice work man! :)
