So I finally got the car back together.  Got it aligned and tossed on a 4 year old set of hoosiers and loaded up ready to go. I was able to run an autocross with it at Daytona's kart track.
Man I really need power steering with this thing.  It is a much better track car than autocross car.

Your shop gets me excited....... :o :yay:

As for power steering: I just recently installed it on my FC.....oh man what a treat! I wish I would have done it ten years ago :banghead:  Definitely worth it.

13 years of abuse and still running STRONG!

Thanks, I built the shop last year.  It was a long summer and is still a work in progress.

I am running the 15:1 rack depowered.  So I am probably going to go with some type of EPS.  There seem to be a few options out there.

I am thinking of the EPS route as well if I do it.

If I come up with anything I will post about it here.

So I ran at Daytona about 2 weekends ago.  It was good to get this back on track.  Broke a part in the T5, which is typical for me lol.  Broke a pin off the 5th gear selector rod.

Good thing I am only 30 minutes from Daytona.  I was able to get it out, get parts and get it fixed but I still missed the race on Saturday by 15 minutes or so.  I did get both races in on Sunday.  Car ran well and averaged 6.3 MPG's on the high banks!

That’s great!   Has to be a thrill to run around there.

Yea I am lucky that it's around 30 minutes from me.  TV does it no justice, looking through the tinted sun visor at the top left of the windshield through the banking is just a weird sensation.  With 750/400 springs it compressed nearly 3 inches on the oval.

Great videos! I think that is my friend Terry Mathis in the red vette that was on pole. If it was I think he set a new track record that weekend. He has a fortune in that car and is quite a driver too. Your car is really looking great as well.
I do love what I do!

It was Terry.  I have raced with him a lot the past few years with my old corvette.  He was on a mission to set a lap record and win an overall.  He accomplished both.

So here is a pic of the car hunkered down in the banking at Daytona.  750/400 springs on my fortune auto coilovers.  This is with aero obviously.
[attach=1]

Here is the car at Sebring, 700/350 springs and no aero.
[attach=2]

Car felt like the rear just wondered around at Sebring.  Not sure if that was due to no aero or the soft springs.  It feels soft.

What are you road race guys running for springs?  For reference, tire wise I am running a 225 hoosier on a 17x9.

I finally am replacing the old T5 I have been running forever.  I have a TKX to replace it.  It fits in the car almost the same as the T5 and I am able to use the same bellhousing, quicktime 6037, just needing to change the clutch discs and slip yoke on the trans.  The rest fits right up.

The T5 I have been running has a steel front bearing retainer, steel cluster support, Astro Road Race 5th gear, Pro 5.0 shifter and 5speeds.com peel shims.  It weighs 77 lbs with no fluid.  The TKX out of the box with the stock shifter weighs 97 lbs.  So hopefully it is a worth while upgrade.

I'm 700/400 no aero. 275 100 treadwear tires all around. My car looks just like yours @ Sebring in flat corners. I can't see going any stiffer in the rear without aero. I probably could get away with 750 in the front but I have not tried it. the rear of my car was really edgy before I added more rear toe in. Are you running a rear sway bar? I am not, just a RB front bar.

AAA speedway compresses the car quite a bit.. I cant imagine what the high banks of Daytona do!!

That is basically where I will end up is 700/400.  I had the 350's and wanted to try them.  No rear bar for me but I am running a front bar almost identical to Bowtie, I think mine is an inch longer.  My car drive fine but it seems snappy loose at higher speeds >120.  Probably because I am not used to driving it without aero.  I am only running 1/8 toe in in the rear, are you running more?

Here is the fox T5 compared to the TKX.  it is slightly different but still fits in the trans tunnel just fine.  I was even able to reuse the existing cross member I had made for the T5.
