Good thing about the PTC is that they will work with you to get the converter right. Ive heard real good things about that $450 converter,great price and performance. Plus if you decide on the $850 converter down the road, they will buy the $450 from you to give you credit.

The QA1s are a great choice, its good that you bit the bullet instead of buying single adjustables and then having to spend money on double adjustables down the road.

If you are going to go higher on boost you may want to think about bigger injectors and switching to E85. Also, I dont remember what fuel pump you are running but Im currently running the Magnafuel 4303 and its awesome! It does not even overheat on the street with continous use like my A1000 would.

Also, if you end up getting a transbrake let me know, I'll send you my blueprints on my homemade bumpbox. I recently tested it and it works very smooth.

Iv heard good things about PTC too and I'm excited to get the converter in. My current suspension -- adjustable tokicos and cut 150lb eibach springs -- is freakin terrible so I had to do something. The double adjustable should hopefully get me to where I want to be. I would like to be pretty competitive in the street class at No Prep this year. I just dont have the power to compete in other classes I don't think but we'll see.

I do plan on going E85 but I need to get a bigger cell. Also, these 80 lb injectors ... idk. "justune" tuned them as 60's and finally got them to work but I dont really think he knows wtf hes doing. The other injectors data is basically stock data that he tweaked. They're definitely 80lb siemens though and "should" be enough with e85 for the power im going to make. I have two side by side inline walbro 255's, so they should be enough pump as well. I will definitely be messaging you again once I get some stuff done and get back to tuning. Consistent 50*'s out here so I hope to get alot done this week. I wont be going with a transbrake unless I go with a powerglide (if the th350 breaks). And if I start getting into that stuff I'm definitely going ms3pro which does it alllll.

80 wont be enough... ask me how i know.... You can try what Zbrown did and do e50 or you can go to 91 and 2 meth nozzles which is what i did.

How much power are you making? I only plan on about 600 to the wheels through my th350/8.8" aka 15-16 lbs on a TC78. The AEM meth kit looks nice but Id rather just do injectors to keep it simple. What injectors do most guys run to really make sure they have enough ? I can always crank my fuel pressure up, I'm only at 58psi and I have read that people run at 75psi with no problems.

you should have real good results with your new suspension. Suspension tuning is where it gets real fun! Im still learning on tuning the DA that are not yet on my car..haha.. For now Im messing with some low end single adjustables and Cal-Tracs ..

That whole SD 80s injector being 60s is a weird ordeal...I know all 80s are not all equal...but ive never seen a case like this... I do recall you had some high timing on the boost areas as well, but it may have been that you were running low.boost as well? Plus I think im very conservative when it comes to timing...lol..

The twin walbros should be okay for now..and the 80s will help you attain your current goals....Im going to look into getting some ID 1000 down the road..from everything that i have heard they are very smooth...and they come with the correct injector data

The MS3 would be the way to go....best bang for your buck...

As for the homemade bump box..it actually took me about a month of researxh and trial and error...lol..but mine works pretty itsd, very smooth on movement, literally rolls about 4 inches with a bump...ive only tried it with 3.5 psi of boost on the transbrake as per my logs.

I have to get to my laptop and get my current schematics, i must have changed them about 6 times before i finally got it to work right.

literally consist of a PWM using 555, timer, diode, transistor, resistor and relay..Use it to pulse the tb solenoid. Mine is good for a two wire solenoid.And Im looking to add a SSR to get less draw on the TB button since its currently wired direct.

I got the rest of the car put together again last night. No more boost leaks, no more intake leak, sounds like its idling alot better. Gonna take it out tonight, maybe get some tuning adjustments in.

Pro Tip: Make sure the rag you set a newly painted item on doesn't have any brake cleaner on it. I wasn't paying attention and flipped the intake over on top of a rag to install the new gaskets. Flipped it back over and had 5 spots of bubbling from brake cleaner still on the rag. Total rookie moment, had to resand and hit it again with some rattle can. It still looks pretty decent but not as good as it did before

Going to spend all of Sunday getting the suspension fabbed in the back. Hopefull MS3 shows up sometime next week. Can't wait to dominate the street tire class at No Prep (hopefully...)

guy was busy today so we'll try to get it done this week.

I get to pull my new converter back out and send it back to PTC. I specifically and clearly said multiple times that I wanted it to footbrake up to about 3500-3600 so I could build boost. I get it in, and it starts spinning the tires at 2800rpm. Fucking annoyed 

And now I'm trying to get Justune to clean up my tune. I send him a log from cold to 200* idle only, he says it looks fine. It has obvious idle surge issues at points, spark bounces around constantly as does the AFR. Ugh.

Stupid cold weather this weekend.

I took it for a quick cruise yesterday. Swung by Mexico and make a quick test pass. Its stalling even lower than I thought.. damn near at 2500 rpm.

I made a pass anyway, and hot damn if it doesn't pull hard as fuck on the big end. I literally think this converter has been my biggest issue since the car was initially put together. I've talked to a few other 5.3 swapped 1st gen guys.. people are typically running mid 12's with a stock n/a 5.3 and mid to lower 11's with nitrous. Everyone always told me my times were slow and I didn't really have an answer for them. I knew the converter wasn't matched to my application but I figured how bad could it really be? I felt like it was fine before being n/a and sprayed, but putting boost to it really showed that it couldn't hold. Getting the new one in really showed how bad it was slipping. New one is rated at a 12% slip I believe, Im sure the old one was slipping in excess of 30-40%. It really would explain the unreasonably low dyno numbers and slow quarter mile times. I always thought it was just a turd, but it definitely doesn't feel like one now. Lesson learned. Can't wait to take it to a track.

Goals for this week and next:

Get old harness/ecu out and sold
Get MS3 on, wired, functioning, and start building the tune.
Get the new suspension fabbed in the back finally.
Pull the converter and send it back

I think your converter change will make a huge difference.  I just swapped out to a higher stall in my GTO last year, and it works so much better now.  You have a couple warm days to go out and play, then pull everything apart on Wednesday...

you can always launch the trans in 2nd gear (i do because i dont have a brake) i can hit 7 lbs at 3600 on the 2 step

I'm not sure why I've never thought of that. I guess I assumed that'd be quite hard on the transmission. So you just run it down the strip in 2nd and 3rd like a halfassed powerglide? haha

Wow it looks like I've been doing my burnouts wrong.

I've always done my burnout in 1st gear, and never left it.
Apparently I should be doing them in 2nd, shifting to 3rd quickly and rolling out.

Im going to be giving a 2nd gear launch a try.
