Looks fantastic!  There's a few threaded bosses on the frame, clean one up and throw that ground down there out of the way :)

That circle dot between your fittings on the accumilator should be a piece of tape that was painted over. Under it probably is a window to view any bubbles in your gas.

That circle dot between your fittings on the accumilator should be a piece of tape that was painted over. Under it probably is a window to view any bubbles in your gas.

Great eye! You were right! Once you mentioned it I knew you had to be right because I remember seeing the sight glass in the datasheet. Thanks for the heads up!


Got a little more work done in the engine bay:


Finally bought a nice little aluminum check valve for the brake booster.


Installed with my fabulous worm clamps! Alright!


Honeycombed my intake pipe to ease MAF tuning.

I'm actually 99% done with my engine bay. Apart from moving my grounds I really can't think of anything I need to do except charge my AC. I'll post pictures after I move the ground since I don't want to be ridiculed again  :yay:

I've been running the engine again. My fuel pressure has moved around several times in between cranks. Its rock solid when I rev and when it idles, but I'm getting changes in-between cranks. It may have something to do with my working on the engine and/or fuel tank (fuel level gauge calibration), but its something I'm confused about and am monitoring constantly. Overall the car is running very good with the commanded idle at 900rpms. It still stumbles a little coming off of the gas into an idle condition, but the higher idle speed helps things out for the most part. Hopefully I can iron it out when I have time to tune the car.

PS - Unfortunately I don't think my DiNOC wrap is going to hold up for the interior. Just the heat in my garage is messing with the adhesion on some parts, especially convex surfaces :(
I am thinking it will irritate me into trying something else. Until then I'm going to try and enjoy it.

I may be overreacting. So far all the big panels aren't having issues. It's the smaller stuff. The door sills are having issues, but it's probably because I didn't use enough dinoc and the 'tabs' I wrapped around the edges aren't long enough to hold it down so the edges are fraying a little. The worst part so far is the little gas lever cover. It's such a curvy piece and the dinoc is wanting to return to it's natural state (flat) which has made it pull away on the hardest bend and make a bridge / bubble. Not too terrible, but if its a sign of things to come I'm going to have to start researching how to properly spray plastic and get some type of coating I'll be happy with.

Where did you get that nice aluminum check valve for the brake booster? My dumb ass didn't use one and BOY does the pedal get soft!

Also what size is your fuel line/filter?  Is that -8AN?

Haha! Yeah, I'm hoping the check valve remedies that problem. I got it off eBay:

My post pump in-line filter (pictured) is -8AN. My pre-pump filter (mounted near my tank) is also -8AN. It's -8AN from the tank to the regulator then I scale down to -6AN to mate to the stock fuel rail. The pre pump filter is course. The post pump filter is fine. I don't remember what the filter grades are for each though.

I've got a quart of primer94 that I used off and on. I found it hard to use when working on such curvy parts and didn't seem to really make a huge difference. I used it of my gauge cluster and now that its been exposed to triple digit heat its peeling up around the dummy light screens. Nothing huge, but it definitely isn't going to make or break dinoc adhesion.

Thanks guys. Yes, I'm very happy with how the interior is coming together in the looks department, but it is painfully fragile. I didn't notice until after I'd wrapped the pieces but the climate control panel and the driver's door panel have quite of few of the plastic 'pillars,' that the interior screws screw into, that have broken off. Both panels still feel secure, but it makes me very cautious around the interior plastics for fear of breaking more :(

I took the car for a 5 mile drive this weekend and it performed very well. Cruising was very responsive. The insta-torque put a huge smile on my face the whole way. Coming to a stop / idling was a little rustier than I'd like. I had the car stall several times when I lifted to stop so the check valve I installed a few posts up really saved my ass. I was pleasantly surprised that my tires didn't rub at all which is interesting to me since my tire/wheel/suspension setup is somewhat aggressive. The car is definitely in need of a good alignment though. A/F readings were pretty bouncy and high, but I haven't calibrated my wideband controller to free air yet, so I took it with a big grain of salt. Coolant, oil pressure, speedo, rpm, fuel level, intake temp, A/F, and voltage gauges appeared to be working properly. The only gauge that's giving me trouble is my fuel pressure gauge and it's always when I start my car. It's like it gets its baseline reading wrong or something because I've seen anywhere from 55 - 70 psi at start. After the car has started the fuel pressure is rock solid, but sticks at the fuel pressure it read when the car starts. I really don't think regulator is to blame because the car doesn't seem to be too unhappy about the pressure swings. I highly suspect the gauge or the pressure sender is to blame. I just ordered a 1/8" NPT tee to get a mechanical fuel pressure gauge involved on the fuel rail so I'll have another reading to reference which will hopefully help me narrow down the problem.

Here's a look at my completed engine bay with relocated grounds:






I got my AC, fender liners, and grounds installed so I'm calling it complete. Headlights don't count ;)

As shown in the pictures above I recently added a mechanical fuel pressure gauge to the end of my stock rail. It looks kind of hokey but I had to angle it the way it is for hood clearance. I have done minimal testing, but it looks like my speedhut gauge is off. The mechanical gauge is much more stable, and doesn't shift every time I start my car. At the moment I am trusting the mechanical gauge. After I do more testing and prove the speedhut gauge is to blame I'm going to try and get speedhut to send me another pressure sensor.

The block ends of the grounds attach to the 4th unused boss for the engine mount pedestals.

As I mentioned I finished installing my AC this weekend. MY RX7 HAS AC!!!! Whoohooo!

I'm sorry but anyone who is selling a car without AC and says "but it's easy to add" doesn't know what they're talking about or is lying through their teeth ;)
Maybe my experiance was unusual or maybe I just have large hands  :yay:, but just getting the lines in was a chore not to mention adding the evaporator (especially if you have your bumper already installed) and removing and/or installing your compressor for oiling (assuming you're starting from scratch). Then there's the electrical headaches :P
