So I killed my 265's at the last autox event, so I installed the 275/40's I had in storage.

These tires are huge! Big sidewall and super wide tread.  They grip really hard but I'm rubbing again due to clearance under load.

Also my car is getting sprayed tomorrow, Honda championship white! Here's a couple pics with primer and the 275's in the back:

Here's a sweet race truck that was out at the local road course today

Anyway car should be done wednesday, just in time for the Woodward Dream Cruise, the biggest automotive cruise/show in the world.

Wow yeah, guess it's time for an update...

The car ended up getting finished just 48 hours before the Dream Cruise, fresh Championship White -

My buddy Tim came up from Ohio with his sweet Impala SS for the cruise -

Then, some drunk idiot backed into my freshly painted bumper, shattering the whole corner and fender, hit and run  -

So then I re-glassed the fender and front bumper, bondoed, primed, and had it painted all in 24 hours! -

Replaced the body bolts with rivets in the overfenders -

When I was taking these pics, a random rainbow appeared behind my building lol

Needs a diffuser really bad!

Final wheel specs:

18x10 +25 F&R

Tires:
front - 245/40 R888
rear - 275/40 R888
25mm front fenders (pulled to 35ishmm)
30mm rear fenders (rear quarters cut and seam sealed)
5mm front spacers
15mm rear spacers

Hey dude, very nice build!  One thing to look into.  In the pictures you posted, the racequip harnesses appear to be significantly lower than your shoulders.  If they are, and you are in an accident, there is a good chance they will crush/compress your spine.

Sucks to hear about the bumper, but glad you got it fixed so quickly, haha!

Car looks fantastic, I like it a lot.   Really nice work.

As of right now the shoulder points are mounted to the rear strut bar, at what I would guess to be around a 25 degree angle.  Over the winter the car will be getting a NASA legal DOM 8 point w/ harness bar, hopefully I'll never need it!   :drive:

Thanks a lot man, as a new(ish) member I really appreciate it... it's been a long process since last fall.

Unfortunately, however, I changed my oil last week and got a whole bunch of metal in the oil... normal wear right?  :(

Won't know anything for sure until we get the motor apart, but I'm thinking rod bearing.  The car feels and sounds totally fine still... but it's only a matter of time at this point.

Plans are to rebuild this motor and make a few changes for road course reliability/power, including cam/heads with supporting mods and tune.  Depending on what got chewed up, it might end up as a forged stroker if I can afford it.

Shit happens I guess... trying to stay positive and use it as a chance to come back stronger next season...

Motor is almost out, car is in a million pieces, taking my time.

Check this out though, I got a FREE set of RE070's off of an sti through a forum hookup...

AND my neighbor sold me these mint Enkei RS-7's with random Koenig boxes for $150 :)

I'm thinking about painting them lime green with black Enkei stickers.. hmm.

These will probably be my street wheels for a while so I'm not racking up miles on my race tires.

Anyway more news to come on the motor carnage until I can get it over to the builder for diagnosis.

Also ordered these:

MMR camber links

and MMR trailing arm spherical bearings

and an Improved Racing oil pan baffle

Shit.. I'm gonna be in the garage all winter again...

I had to shim the spacers in the MMR control arm bearings to get a good fit.  just stuck a washer in between a sleeve and the bearing where it slips in (you'll see what i'm talking about).  without the washer, i could tighten the hell out of the toe adj bolt, and the bearing/sleeves still had some play.

A buddy of mine actually got me into the ls1 bug. He has had an ls1 notchback, and ls1 s10. Both of which he lost the motor due to oil pump and rod bearing death. Seems like the achillies heel on these things.

Have you though of getting a ported ls6 pump to go with that baffle? With both of those, I think you would be set.

Thanks for the heads up, I bought these used from a member on here so I don't really have any directions for these or the camber adjusters.

Seems straight forward enough though, and since I currently have the poly bushings in the trailing arms they should come out pretty easily.  I think I'm going to drop the whole subframe for this install and por-15 everything... +  the underbody.

Since the existing pump was supposed to be a "new" oem ls1 unit, it will be replaced with either a melling or ported ls6.  I'm also planning on running an oil cooler and an accusump system next season.  Also other internal upgrades like rod bolts etc.

Painting the new wheels green tonight   :)  motor is ready to come out, just need a cherry picker.

If you are going to run all that get the 10296 Melling high volume oil pump and run the optional low pressure spring it comes with.

I've also been considering some options for a better radiator/fan setup for a while now.  I might even be messing with the mounting locations to make room for a corvette style (front feed) intake system.

After my engine did the same thing yours did I bought a melling 10296 but never ended up using it because my engine builder said it was too much and every review I found of it on Ls1tech was someone drag racing not autox or road racing. The few reviews I found of it used on a road race car said that the melling pump could empty an oil pan due to how much they flow. I have no experience with using one or know anyone that has that is just what I found from research.
