"semi solid" FC front diff mount
« on: April 24, 2011, 04:33:25 PM »
Saw a thread on the club a minute ago that had a different type of front diff mount in it.  Seems like a pretty good idea, besides the fact the poster may be a scammer.

Seems like it could be a good design.

You will still rip the stock mounting tabs off of the cross member. Pinion snubber or not. Over priced, for a home brew item.....put some drag race launches on it with a slick.

As was mentioned in the thread reinforcing the tabs is all but a requirement.

Why not?  If it has to do with the 8.8 IRS setup coming out, that is not going to be a viable option for everyone.  Don't take that as trying to slam the 8.8 setup at all as I would like to have one for myself once they are in production but I am sure there are going to be people that won't want to go that far.

IDK seemed like a good idea, im running ford power so i wont be breaking anything  :D ::)

Why would it not be a good idea?
seems like an upgraded semi-stock design.

Here's what happens when torque is applied to the differential via an 8 rotor motor. (with pinion snubber installed):

Here's a very simple solution to prevent previous carnage. That tab will not hold even with a pinion snubber. There is very little drive line noise. Some, but not terrible at all.

I was going to say, wouldn't a ray device do the same thing for much less and be less complex?

Correct Weed Hopper, plus it helps with weight transfer.

I think that new mount is ok, don't get me wrong. But it will not solve the total problem.
