Pretty cool concept for sure.  When i went over to the site i had to look at the 33 ford hot rod.  That thing is awesome, wonder if there is a chance of getting lsx mounts in it?  2100lb curb weight with lsx power just imagine the fun

You are asking a website of LSX swappers if one will fit in a '33 hotrod  ?  of course!  it's been done with an LS3 already  :yay:

I like the red one, it reminds me of an Alpha. But one you could actually build to be reliable.

Agree 100%, I'd definitely go with that one

A couple other renderings of the '3rd place' design... which apparently is one of two chosen for the 1/4 scale clay model:

And the first-off chassis design:

None of the renderings excite me as much as that last picture.  Its smaller than I had imagined...and that is a very good thing.

The square tubing is an interesting choice.  Is that cost/ease of construction decision?

There's talks of the car coming in 3 different trims: -GT as pictured first, -R as pictured in white and -H for high fuel economy... to be powered by a TDI motor.  I believe the Factory Five GTM frame is built with square tubing as well... easier for fabrication, surface for riveting aluminum panels, etc.

I believe a lot of the exotics like the murcielago and galardo are all framed with a mixture of round and square tubing as well.

I can't stop looking at the headlights.  Pretty sure whoever rendered that took the headlights from an 06-07 Impreza.

yup... they are certainly the impreza / later STI lights.  I'm pretty sure those will not make the final design... the imprezas have a much more flat front end.  to try to integrate these lights to a vehicle with a much more extreme sloped nose (due to the mid-engine design) just isn't going to happen.

I'm no turbo Suby expert, but from what I hear, 400 hp is easy and reliable isn't it? Man, if so, this thing will be seriously fun, and dare I say it, will probably out-handle our beloved RX7's. You know, lower polar moment of inertia, lower CG, shorter wheel base, blah blah blah. Basically like a higher powered Formula Ford or Sports Racing car for the street. I likee!

If it doesn't out handle an almost 20 year old street car I'd say they kind of suck at building cars  ;)

I've heard about oil control issues in the heads due to it being horizontally opposed.  I wonder how that will work out on the track.
