Alright, so I'm currently messing with the wiring, and was trying to figure out the fuel pump. I couldn't hear it turning on, so I pulled it out. Turns out the reason i couldn't hear it was because it is really quiet. Took some pics of the fuel tank though. Looks gross inside.

need to clean that tank. also the stock pump is way to much pressure for a carb. you can use a block mounted pump and just run a line down into the tank and add another filter in the line. but i would use a chevy TBI electric pump in the tank and just use a regulator. the TBI pump runs around 12psi and is easily regulated down to 5psi. very nice progress so far though.

Mine is like that too, it sat for 20 years with a full tank. I don't know if you can tell but the baffles are almost rusted away...

Dang. Glad mine isn't quite that bad. I'll just have to drop the tank and rinse it out. Hopefully the nasty stuff won't protest too much. Nice phone though lol. That the evo? You can just barely see the top of my Droid x in my photo.

Its the incredible, I got it a few weeks after the X came out but I didn't feel like spending a month on a waiting list for it. I have been putting off cleaning the tank for a good 2 months now, it will not be fun and its gotten to the point where it cant really get all that much worse if I wait.

True. Luckily the guy who sold me my car was trying to get as much as possible out of it, so he drained the tank. The little bit in the baffle is all thats there.

So I was trying to figure out why the wire for the starter solenoid wasn't getting any power. Busted out the multimeter and started tracing. Checked to see if the starter cut relay was working, only to find it wasn't there and already had a jumper on it. That eliminates that. I knew these have a clutch switch, but the pedal was on the floor already (No mc, so it just sits there). So i pull the column cover off, and check the ignition switch. Got power there. So I finally just unplugged the clutch switch, put a jumper on it, and what do you know, it worked! Apparently my neutral safety switch thing is bad. Oh well. On to the next step! lol.

Got a good chunk of work done tonight. Realized that i wasn't going to have room in the engine bay for the battery, so i put it in the trunk. Got power to the starter, just need to make a cable to go from the starter to the alternator, and finish the cable from the alternator to the fuse box. I took one of the bolts for the rear tow hooks out, and replace it with a longer one, then used it as a ground stud. I still need to make a ground strap from the chassis to the engine too. I got a pic of the shop it's in now though.

that sure looks like an alt wire.
the clutch switch is on the rod going to the master so atleast on mine i needed the master mounted to activate the switch

huh. Well I was going to bypass it anyway so I could still drive it if my clutch hydraulics fail.

Update 4/12/11
Got a parts car. If you're a regular on here, you may recognize it as MazdaNewb's old project. It has all the 5 lug stuff, 4 piston front brakes, and a t2 rear/axles. He threw in some extra body parts and misc. stuff, so I'm sure I'll have plenty of spares and some stuff for sale eventually. I bought some drop engineering umhw diff bushings from Fcs rule for when i put the t2 diff in. I also got a straight up bellhousing and swapped it out, so now i have a little more room. Got an energy susp. tranny mount, and the short water pump as well. Pressure washed the engine bay yesterday. Turns out you CAN grind the stock fc speedo cable down to fit the camaro speedo gear, so i did that today as well. Here's some pics of the progress.

Ha. It was put together sunday, but i got that other bellhousing, so i pulled the motor and trans, then decided to pressure wash the bay, which led to washing the whole car. Then I needed a different clutch fork for the new bell housing, So i got that and the new tranny mount. But this darned nickel and dime stuff is killing me. I think the radiator got ordered today, so that should be here soon.
