FD Carbon Wheel Well Covers
« on: March 28, 2024, 02:15:16 PM »
Hey dudes.

Time to cover up that hole in your engine bay :)

I've been selling these covers on rx7club, Facebook and insta for a while now, finally caught up with orders and figured you guys might like them.

They install over the stock liners, use existing mounting points, and are designed to fit a bare chassis. If you have wiring, pop up lights, filler necks or wastegates etc in the way, they are easy to trim to fit around whatever mods or stock parts you have kept.

I'll do my best to check this forum, but if you want a faster answers, you can reach me on Facebook at FD Wheel Covers In Carbon, and the same on insta.

This is the only part I make, just trying to cover the cost of keeping my rotary going... I might be joining you guys one day..

They are $265 USD shipped worldwide, including PayPal fees.

I'm currently only making Carbon sets, but I can make Kevlar sets again when I have a few more requests for them. Kevlar are $285 USD.

Just shipped out this batch, let me know if anyone else wants a set.

One of my customers was just in a Gears and Gasoline video, he decided to paint his set. Worth a watch, even if it still has an unreliable 2 stroke lmao

I received mine a couple days ago.

They look good, and fit pretty nice. I give them a 7/10.

I just don't like that they are fiberglass parts, with a layer of carbon on the top side. So they are pretty heavy for what they are.
I was expecting a legit full carbon piece for the price.

Please post up some pics, send me some, and slap them on a scale. I'm sorry you're not happy with them, 7/10 is pretty poor I haven't had anyone this unhappy with them ever. Maybe you have a bad set that slipped past Q/C, but that would be a 1st.

They are as light as we can reasonably make them with a hand layup. Total shipping weight with 2 covers, cardboard box, hardware, packaging materials, tape, labels, and the instruction page is right at 0.8kg / 1.7lbs shipped. We had to add a small 3rd reinforcement layer, a small strip on the back on the bend, to make them strong enough to use only 2 layers. Any thinner and they would crack with anything a tire might throw up at them.

As much as I'd love to do a pre-preg dry carbon process, the cost and time to do that is prohibitive (oven, high temp mold, pre-preg cloth etc). Hopefully I'll be able to offer than in the future!

A customer just came in 1st place at WekFestJapan this week. New Zealand Top Performance car of the year 2023 runs these. Phil Sohn is running Carbon and Kevlar versions on both of his FDs including the Exedy sponsored car at SEMA this year. Rob Dahm has a set, the green Liberty Walk FD has a set now, etc. If these were poor quality there would be more complaints with the 350+ sets I've sent out.

I really am trying to do my best, I'm an FD owner and this is how I'm trying to offset the cost of building and running my FD.

I wasnt really knocking on it, they look good and fit well

I was just thinking that they were full carbon like a pre preg part based on how small the part is.

For car show stuff they are 10/10 look perfect.

I'm more of a performance kind of guy so I was just including in my score that they are not full carbon, just carbon over fiberglass.

...Also im a tough crowd so dont take it personally lol

Of course, I'm sorry I didn't see it earlier.

Just shipped out a few Kevlar sets. Still have a few left. Will have more carbon sets ready to ship in a few days.

Some people might like a straight FRP version.
