Author Topic: Anyone interested in a domestic produced rear subframe reinforcement package?  (Read 1511 times)

Gauging interest for FD rear subframe reinforcement kit (weld-on), a la the Jun FD subframe. I want to have this done but if we could get some extra people interested in pre-orders, it would be more worthwhile for everyone. This type of setup reinforces the suspension pick-up points mainly. It can also have some cross-bracing to strengthen the whole rear subframe. I am in touch with a fab/frame shop about this.

I've wanted for a long time a much more robust bolt-in rear subframe.  The stock one is so flimsy I have very little trust in it.  Grannas is supposed to be working on a tubular steel subframe that will have options for FD, 8.8 and Ford 9" differential mounting.

It will be similar to this.

I wouldn't want to weld any more tubes into the stock subframe personally.

It's not so much tubes as formed gussets that bridge the pick up point flanges. If we do it right it would fill a gap for people that don't need or can't afford a whole new fabricated subframe, though obviously the latter is preferable for a full-effort car with all spherical bearing suspension.

Assume youve seen the Jun one?

I might be interested. I’d love to see what they come up with as a kit.
