LS2 Intake
« on: December 28, 2022, 06:56:51 PM »
SO.....I went to re-torque my intake manifold bolts. Started off the first sequence at the 44 in lbs, then went to to the second sequence at the 89 in lbs. The post for the very first bolt started to mushroom over and collapse and crack on me. I noticed that the LS2 manifold does not have a reinforcing rib like the LS1 intake or the LS6. What a bunch of dipshits over at GM for eliminating the reinforcing rib. Now here I sit trying to come up with a solution. Has anyone else had this problem? Im thinking of milling down the posts and putting shorter bolts in. The mounting posts dont even have a brass sleeve through the middle of them for support. Lets here some feedback. Hopefully somebody has had the same problem before me. i cant be the first person to have had  this happen.

You have to tighten them by feel for sure. I used to have an LS2 intake and noticed the same.

are you sure it's a gm one and not a dorman? I'm fairly sure all mine had brass inserts in them...

Yeah my GM intake has inserts and using the torque spec has not ever come close to mushrooming the posts. Are you sure you're working with in-lbs?
