Yeah thought so.

One thing I just thought of is to check the catalytic converter.  I’ll swap in my test pipe and see if that makes a difference

Stock ECU will usually throw a code if the crank and cam aren't syncing properly.

You said you got one good pull. Check your valve springs again. Is this still the old 383? 7500 is a lot of RPM. Anything above 6k needs careful consideration of valvetrain stability. Over 7k orders of magnitude more so. That engine was very far from optimized iirc. Wrong cam, wrong heads.

Rev limit is set there but I never get close. One pull meaning it went to 6300 and I let off. It’s just to slow after that.  I think a handful of times in its life I went to 7k but it was pointless, otherwise I shift at 6300-6500.

Correct on engine 383 not optimized.  New LS7 sitting in the crate 12’ away from it [emoji848]

Is it just a big loss of power or actually breaking up? I still think it's a combo issue if the power just tapers off fast.

When it ran previous it would just taper off power and sound clean.  Now it’s a definite break up.

If I get time this week I’ll take a peek at the cat.

Not sure this has been said yet (but I'm forgetful in my old age and don't wanna read all the pages).

Cam/crank sync correlation error?

I had an issue with that in my FC years ago.  Happened at the same RPM every time.  Just like hitting a limiter.   Issue had to do with the timing of the "drop" on the cam sensor vs. the crank "-1" in the 24-1 reluctor wheel.

Came here to say exactly this, I've read a number of crank/cam sensor posts with very similar symptoms
