Under 100k
What can you get/build that would be like a singer dakar 911?
Something that is fun to drive, not too huge has an interior with GOOD AC?
I'm in the tropics so torrential rain is a problem or i'd get a baja buggy.
I was thinking maybe a baja/pro runner truck?

Live a little. You can get an awfully great rain coat for that type of money.
I absolutely love my Atom. Like my Lotus isn't even close on the fun to drive scale.
So a used Nomad if it delivers half the fun (and I've heard the nomads are more fun) would be up there.

For like ripping up back roads, I'd get some sort of cross kart. Way cheaper and more capable on a dirt road then just about anything

Clearly none of you have been in tropical rain.
I got caught in Lousianna/florida rain in a slingshot and that wasn't even tropical. No more for me.
If they made the rally fighter with better fit and finish and sills that dont store water for skeeters i'd get one.

I just saw where Local Motors went bust.
That was a pretty cool concept.  I visited their factory a few years back when I was in Phoenix.

They started in MA right down the road from factory five and I think they either partnered, or ended up stealing some of their fabricators.
I never understood that company though. How does one company jump from one hype train to another for a decade without making money.

15 years ago Hertz was renting lotus Elises down in south florida, and you could get one for under $100 a day.
Left with the sun shining and the roof off. Never bothered to ask how the roof worked.
15 minutes later on 95 the skies go black, and traffic comes to a crawl. Learned how to assemble the top on one of those with my dad on the side of the highway, in tropical rains. Luckily I vacuumed out the inches of water on the floorboards and seats and left that thing with the roof off for a couple sunny days in south florida heat.

Tried to rent it again the next week, and they said it was now "unavailable" due to maintenance  :lurk:

Still worth it. I brought that thing to car shows, the drag strip, street racing

Notwithstanding the Lotus "submarine" from the James Bond movie, Loti are not known for being particularly water-resistant.  LOL

I dunno, did you the Top Gear where James May took a Lotus Esprit off roading?  It was shockingly good, hah!
