CEL P0342 - Low Cam Sensor Voltage
« on: May 24, 2021, 09:53:28 PM »
Got a CEL yesterday, P0342 - cam sensor low voltage - and the car will only start on the third try.

I have the LS1 style cam sensor at the back of the block. Do these cam sensors go bad? I ordered a new NTK cam sensor, and a new pigtail for the harness in case it is a wiring problem when I get in there. I don’t remember what brand of sensor I got 11 years ago, but it was new when I put the engine in :)

Anyone have any experience with these failing one way or the other?

I have had both cam and crank sensors fail but it was due to a poorly regulated 5vref. They are usually really reliable. I just replaced them with the autozone lifetime warranty kind.

Yea I am hoping this does not turn into a fiasco lol. If it does I’m probably buying a Holley Terminator.
