Aside from the swapped rx7 :)

I have a hankering lately for the BMW i8.  Love so many things about it, namely 60+ mpg, supercar looks (doors), CF monocoque cabin, AWD versatility, huge depreciation curve makes them in $60K range now) ability to drive in full electric, and rear seats for my little girls.  They are still fast (0-60 in less then 4.5) but look so much faster and get a bad rap.

I am so picky, if I had to pick an exotic car I don't even know what I would get.  Mclaren has been catching my interests but I think the next toy will need to have 4 seats (even if they are small in the rear)

What say you guys??  I want to see what your all thinking, since naturally we all share the same automotive tastes :)

I think I would buy a used Luxury Prerunner.

If we are talking a road car, probably a 911 GT3.

Used GTR.    They’re a bit ugly, but seem like still one of the best dollar/performance available.

If I’m just spending that kind of money, an R33 GTR V Spec with heavy mods is what I’d build.

Have I mentioned I like GTRs?

911 Turbo would be very, very close in my list as well and is probably the better car.

If it was 100k of my own money and I actually had to own it, I think I'd come out the other end with a Cayman GT4 or maybe an early 997 GT3 (not a ton of 997 GT3s to be had under 100k). This is mostly for the combination of being absurdly good cars, very reliable, and about the closest thing to an appreciating asset you can get with 4 wheels.  Honorable mention for an R8 (I think you can get a V10 for 100k, but V8 is cool too) also in terms of being not insanely expensive to own.

In terms of cars that could be had under 100k that would be cool to have but maybe not to own:
Exige S
F430
One of the extra-wild kit cars (Ultima GTR, Superlite SL-C)
MP4-12C

911 Turbo
C7 Z06
Camaro ZL1 1LE
Prerunner
BMW M2 Comp with mods

I had the opportunity to drive an i8 and really wish I had, my dad got to drive one and he was very impressed with it, handles well even if it is low on power.

a coworker of mine has a Ferrari 360 and 599, both beautiful cars and he paid way less than sticker, he says they hold their value well.

V10 R8
Super lite cars SL-C(prefer Ultima RS but probably $180k when I was done.

Alternatively...Alfa Giulia QF GTA. My god that's a beautiful car.

I'm guessing it will be at or over 100k though.

Without question...

Those, or the Superlite will easily exceed $100K if done right.
Not sure you could even do a budget build for that.

My ultimate dream car has always been a Ford GT-40 MkII, but even a replica will blow the hell outta that $100K budget.  :banghead:

I don't really have any desire for anything modern beyond basic transportation.

You’re talking exotics and 4 seats in the same post lol what category are we going for?

Funnest ways to move a lot of people around -

CTS-V with a 2650 blower
Jeep Trackhawk with 900AWHP
E63S with turbo upgrade downpipes and tune

$100k buys you a lot of sports car and some exotics too but if 2 seats don’t work there’s no point.

Factoryfive is my "I won the lottery" check list...  The want is quite strong with virtually anything there.  Yes, the F9R is sooo beautiful...

However, I'm Covid-unemplyoyed since January, so I only get to play around with 90's Japanese cars... :(

I can dream though!

yeah I have signed up for alerts for the F9R I'm sure it's going to be a pretty expensive kit and the build could easily exceed $100k.

But for the sake of this thread.  If someone gave me $100k and said go buy a car that you have to keep and drive for 10 years.  probably buy a gated Ferrari like a 360 or 430 if i could find one but i dont think the 430 with a gated manual could be had for $100k.    Possibly go for a nice Aston with manual or the newest lowest mileage Viper GTS ACR
