Author Topic: The rotard purists heavily downvoted my idea of putting a LS in clapped out FD  (Read 6530 times)

This thread is funny to me, coming from the muscle car world. I can take every post in this thread, substitute the word "Pontiac" where you say "rotory" and it would still all be true.

I call them "brand zealots" and they are everywhere.

Another Ponchoholic here.  Parked next to my FD is a '79 TA, WS6/W72 400/4spd/4wdisc, a '71 455HO TA, and a '67 Lemans 'vert.

I took my swapped FD to a rotary meet once.  I had read some of the smack online so, when I arrived, I shut off the engine about 200 ft away and just rolled in Prius style.  Parked the car and walked away.  One guy asked if it was swapped because he saw the 6-spd pattern on the shifter.  He was cool with it.  Another was bragging about having almost 1500 miles on his rotary rebuild and it hadn't blown up yet!  I told him I just drove from Texas to Ohio and back, never checked the oil AND got 30 mpg.  He replied that I stole the soul from the car.  I countered "maybe - but now it has balls....."  :)

You also fixed the drive train that was likely no longer going to function after 30 years. You rescued it from the junk yard  :secret:

I still love the idea of a rotary, the engineering is awesome.  The 3/4/5 rotor builds on Youtube are amazing.  LS swap is better for my driving but I don't need to argue with people about it.  At some point though rebuilding would get old but there are those select few that get them to last.  I hate the sound of the 2 rotor, the 3/4 ones air shifting on youtube at 1000whp are insane though, like F1 type sounds.

Saving a FD is a noble feat and I am sure people appreciate that.
