S4 ls1 to S5 chasis swap
« on: August 22, 2018, 03:15:24 AM »
I have a really clean S5 TII chasis, looking at buying an Ls1 RX7 and swapping the drivetrain over to mine. The problem I am wanting to ask about, is, how much of a problem is it if the swap and everything is in an S4 chasis with manual windows and locks into my S5 with power windows and locks, what other problems would I run into trying to swap it straight over to my chasis? Thanks in advance

Since the S4 doesn’t have power windows, it was likely not originally a TII. I would try and find out what rear end is in the S4 – it may be the NA diff. If that is the case, the driveshaft from the LS won’t bolt up to your TII diff.
You’ll likely have to do a little bit or wiring. The engine mounts, radiator, and most things under the hood should swap right over.

Not worried about the rear or drive train, the two I trying to choose between have either a ford 8.8 or a T2 rear, so that’s not a concern, just wiring and how is it gonna wire into my wiring for power windows and locks or if S5 wiring is much different than S4

The ECU will be wired into a little bit of the stock wiring, but the windows and most interior stuff in your S5 you won't have to touch. IIRC, the TII has the wiper wiring wrapped with the engine loom. You'll most likely have to cut that out and re-use it with your LS1 harness.
