Bell housing isn't the issue. The steering shaft and the tunnel at the end of the trans are very tight. You'd lose a lot of ground clearance. 1 7/8" long tubes already take at least an inch off your ground clearance.

Now if one were to make a 1/4 circle notch on say a 2-3" radius from the firewall back to past the end of the trans you could fit anything you wanted but I've never seen it done.

Stainless is much slower to conduct heat than carbon steel.
I wouldn't bother with either, as the performance benefit is small and the stainless will hold up visually better than any of them.

I plan on wrapping them once I pull the trigger. It makes a huge difference in under hood temps. My steel headers are coated and wrapped currently.  I will never not wrap them, it helps and ton with cabin temps as well.

So what is the recommended install procedure?  Install from the bottom or the top?  Does the little tab on the K member need to be trimmed? Starter removed? Engine lifted up?

I just now got a chance to pull them out of the box and I tried to just slide the passenger side in from the top but it seemed like the hard brake line at the top and the k member tab at the bottom were in the way.  So if theres a trick to getting them in there without cutting on the car or lifting it out, Please share.

Thanks!

Never mind, I got it in, had to remove the valve cover for a little more clearance.  I’m assuming you all cut this tab off, I don’t see it in any pictures.

I unfortunately have to report somewhat of a fitment fail.

My setup is an FC convertible with a Granny's mount cradle.

On the passenger side I cannot get the rear of the header down far enough unless I push the motor so high up that the motor won't bolt into the rear hole of the cradle. The lowest primary is contacting the front subframe. On the driver's side of the car, I actually cut that section of the subframe that it was contacting completely out in order to clear my old longtubes... that is an option that I think would work okay on the passenger side too if I wanted to go that route. I'm learning now looking at the pics above that that little protrusion is perhaps unique to the convertible subframe - it is actually a different part number for the convertible compared to the coupe.

Here's a bad picture https://imgur.com/a/VPkoSEh taken from right up by the water pump so you can see where the primary is contacting.

So, with all of this said, the Granny's cradle has never fit right. The PO put it in and cut it all to hell to make it work, I'm really not sure why, but even completely free of obstacles the motor has never sat all the way down and had the holes line up.  I'm going to buy Ronin mounts because that's been on my list of things to do for a while and I managed to pull the Granny's mounts off today and realized that's gonna be a fairly easy job to do without pulling the whole motor. I hate the Granny's design because it forces you to work blind and it's chewed to hell, and the PO was, let's say... frugal.

I actually think there's a pretty solid chance that doesn't solve the problem - I think I'm going to have to cut this weird protrusion from the subframe and box it in and weld it. I'll post when I make more progress, but I think there's a pretty solid chance that this design won't fit in an FC vert without cutting and welding the subframe.

As an aside, my guess is the driver's side wouldn't fit either for the same reason, but since mine is already cut away I don't know for sure.

Mine went in from the bottom without too much issue on the Samberg frame but the steering shaft has to be disconnected to get the driver side in. Passenger side was easy. Passenger clears A/C, frame and big Powermaster starter without too much issue.

Yes.  Take that tab off.  It was already removed on our FC test car but it was for a vert brace that we don't use (whether vert or no) so it's an easy trim.

Just a heads up...  We are finally caught up on header backorders (the shop that bends these moved in the middle of the pandemic and we had other supply chain challenges, too).  We do now have 11 sets in stock and immediately available if anyone is looking.

Yeah and the box isn’t exactly small. I thought I could hide mine but there’s no way.  The packaging, like the product, is above and beyond.

I just got the set for the latest build on 94 FD. Fit is really great and truly better than the dozens of sets of sandersons Ive installed. One area on drivers side floorpan will need a little massage just to have some airspace but otherwise there is plenty of clearance everywhere.
great job!
I do love what I do!
