WTB Sorted Mint FD - $30k+ caliber car
« on: January 20, 2018, 09:27:00 PM »
Looking for a mint fully sorted low mile FD build with A/C.   Prefer factory body.  Would really like an LS7 swap but unaware if there are any out there.  Price negotiable for the right car.

Thanks for the info Vince.  I’m in Indiana - no front plate so my OCD won’t allow me to run around with a permanent molded front plate holder.  Anyone else with a 9+/10 interior/exterior fully sorted 500+ wheel HP setup?  Fair price paid.  Want a mint driver but would also consider a show car as well

For sure that goes without saying but if spending 30k+ I’m going to get what I want.  Thanks.

Haha. You are going to get what someone else built. I find it comical that something like the 99 spec plate would keep you from buying a car. That seems like it should be way down on the priority list for a swapped FD. That’s all... and FYI- you could have a bodyshop shave the plate and repaint bumper for probably less than 1k.

I don't blame you.
I'm in VA, where front plates are required, but I still don't run them on my collector cars.
Cops around here seem to be cool with it, as long as it's a special car, and not licensed as a daily driver.
I think there's even a provision in the antique license law that says it's legal if the car doesn't have a front plate bracket.

Just offer 1k less, and get it fixed. I don't run a front plate either, only had 1 ticket in 5 years, I like those statistics

I would say that reasoning shows how serious the potential buyer is.  Move on.  Buy a factory car, not a swapped car from the 90's.  If you are that picky about something as superficial as the front plate, then trust me there will be other things bigger than that to keep you from buying a purpose built car like this.  If this truly is all the issue is, then yah, offer $1k less, he will accept, then shave the front bumper and paint it.

Good 'ole Commonwealth right!?  I just bit the bullet and ordered a front plate bracket for my 996tt that screws into the front tow hook threaded hole.  I haven't been pulled over for this either, but without the front plate, you are "more of a target" in VA.

I completely agree. If I were selling my swapped FD I would not take this guy seriously. How many times has a front plate kept someone from buying a car? Isn’t there much bigger things to worry about??

Not looking to start a flame war...would much rather put the 1k into a FAST intake...not shaving/repainting shit.  I’ll never run a front plate on a vehicle.  Just a personal preference.

Of course I’ll get what someone else built but then again I’m willing to wait for the right car.  It’s kind of like the factory rear wing on these cars, to me the car looks 100x better with one on there but many of the swapped cars on here run wingless or with the duckbill style.  To each their own.

I would put the RX7 beauty plate on.  Rare that a state doesn't require a front plate and the molded bumper helps resale!  It was a huge bonus for me when I am forced to put a front plate on.  My car would be perfect for you but I'm still in the honeymoon phase.  Man they are fun!  Good luck!
