B body wagons are super cool, plus a LS swap would be super easy.  I like E39 wagons too

Join the smug side and go BMW. Plenty of support if you wanted to swap it. And they look sexy.

BTW, your comment about the kids and safety heavily swayed my decision to stick with the e46. That and the head bolt threads shitting the bed before selling it to my brother.  :yay:

They look so sexy, even my wife likes them.

Dude, right? When I got the truck Henry was...4 months old? So I didn't really think about how safe the thing would be, I just knew it looked cool and could haul shit if I wanted to.

BMW - The e39s still look good

Swagon's wagon is so damn cool, I think he sold it last year?

All the Joji Nagashima cars still look good. I parted out a wrecked E36 before, and compared to my FD, I seem to remember it using a heavier gauge of sheet metal on the exterior panels and stuff. Not unlike old Volvos.

PS: How did you expect a '69 C10 to do in a crash?  :yay:

TIL who designed the BMW cars was a Tokyo born man living in Germany. They look so good.

Haha, didn't cross my mind until I got to thinking about taking Henry with me on a road trip, then once the 2nd one was coming along I really REALLY started doubting the viability of the truck as a fun car. Oh, and there's the entire "it doesn't even fit in my garage' thing.

Caprice/Custom Cruiser/Roadbastard wagon

Although big and heavy, I feel like it will have the same issue as the truck...in an accident it won't hold up as well as a late 90's BMW.

Well you can put in "cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks"....

Only if I drive at night with sunglasses on while I'm on a mission from God.

It is a full frame car, not an X frame. They used them as cop cars and they are pretty damn safe. Keep in mind these met the same crash standards as late 90s BMWs. These would drive through a late 90s BMW.

Bwahaha, I just checked the length on the Caprice wagon and it is longer than my 69 long bed truck. So no...I will be hard passing on it as it can't fit in my garage.

Well, I could imagine they make good trucks...cuz they're bigger than my actual truck! Hahaha.

Dude, not hating at all. They are pretty cool, just huge!

Current plan is to sell my truck in the spring after I clean it up, then wait til I find a 5 series wagon in white/silver...preferably anthracite...with black interior. Probably gonna be a while. Haha.

Solid plan, Joe may have his motor together by the time you find one!

Drew, I bet if you can find a 540iT you will have an easier time fitting the engine, since that BMW V8 is a hoss.    I think the brake booster and a few other things are tighter to the motor in the 6 cylinder chassis.   Plus those V8s tend to eat head gaskets and end up cooked as a roller for cheap.

The '99-04 BMW 525iT wagon could be ordered with a stick shift which is a bonus.  There are 5 for sale in my area for under $5K manual trans...... if you don't plan to swap an LSx or similar into it.... those straight 6 cylinder engines run forever!  Stay away from the 540i V8 as they have head gasket issues and timing chain guide problems... all of them.
