Look what I got! New car!!!
« on: November 26, 2015, 10:20:36 PM »
Well it is not new - just new to me. However, it has just below 60k miles and it is in good shape. I am pretty happy right now.

PS: I am not giving up on the RX7

Sweet C5, silver is always a nice color on that chassis.

It is kind of funny but I have noticed a lot of us rx-swappers now buying vettes on the side, I myself have pondered it when coming across any for sale locally. I wonder if it is because we love the LS powerplant and would enjoy the slight refinements that come with the vette when compared to our lighter frankstien variants. :)

From little driving that I have done - It does feel a lot like an FC.

Also, the C5 convertible weighs 3210 lbs which makes it lighter than a lot of RX7s including mine.

Those are nice driving cars. I drove around my friends c5 6speed. They are fast, fun cars. Just don't get too many speeding tickets.

Beautiful corvette! Congrats on the find.

I catch myself clicking on c5 corvettes on craigslist just because the prices have came down so far. I've seen more that one for under 10k around me in decent condition with moderate mileage too.

^^ THIS 100%.

Im in the market for a C5 after letting my FD go to a new owner. The main benefit for me of buying a C5 is that I can just throw some sticky tires on it and go to the track. Plus, it is nigh impossible to beat the $ per performance factor of a C5. 10k will hardly buy you an ls1/t56 combo and a rolling chassis for most any LS swap canidate, when for 10k OR LESS even, you can have a well built LS powered car that is fairly well set up from the factory for the racetrack.

OP - Nice 'Vette. I've got feelers out for a Base model 01-04 C5 hatch. (best aero, best engine/intake/wiring harness/least parts not available anymore)

Nice Vette. Yes they are good bang for the buck, and the fuel mileage is really good. Best track car value going right now. It is like a larger, heavier FC. All they need is a good set of seats and a head unit upgrade and they feel pretty modern. The interior is better than an FC or FD but still a little cheap looking, and creaky by modern standards.

Congrats - I'm Sure you already know that the engine in that car is a perfect fit for a 3rd GEN FD.

Very little Modifications - And Bolt on Kits are Readily Available.

Enjoy and have fun driving your new ride.  And since we live in the same state - Be sure to say Hello - If you see me in one of my 2 FDs on the Road.

Yeah i myself have been looking over C6s. C5s are great cars but the LS2 cars have come down alot. Ideally i want a JSB LS3 car with an auto. Been seeing some right in the high teens/low 20s which is very near what i sold my RX8 for. Just waiting for the right one to pull the trigger. Nice car OP

I'm Jelly. I have thought about trading one of my FDs for a C5 but most C5 owners think their car is worth more and want cash or a straight trade. I just can't bring myself to do it.

well that's because most corvette owners (especially the ones who don't seem to understand depreciation) are cocks. That's why we swap these cars. because we don't want to drive the car that douches gravitate to. I'm just happy to hear the douches have moved on to the newer mustangs. Ill snag up a C5 here and trade you for your FD without hesitation

Had a guy with a C5 Z06 w/196k paint fade and needed a small amount of work. Asking 13,500 OBO.
Wanted to trade straight up for my FD (I come to him, 1/2way across country)
I sold my FD for WELL over 13k...lol.

He wasnt too happy about that when I pointed it out.
