Norotors decals and shirts
« on: August 05, 2015, 06:20:58 PM »
Hey guys,

I'm interested to find out if anyone is currently making decals and banners, etc. for you guys?

If you guys are interested and I can get admin approval, I'd like to try to start producing vinyl graphics for the forum. I would need to be granted permission to use the logos, and fonts etc. Would also need someone to send me the design to trace. Mainly the logo. I could pull it from google, but it won't be of the highest quality.

So, show your interest and maybe get an admin in here to let me know if someone already currently does these or not!

Thanks guys!

Thanks for posting. As I said on FB, I am in for the "nor oter" decal. The guy who was making them was deployed and don't think is around. Not sure who has master file. We are pretty easy going here so there isnt any real "rules" we kinda self regulate. (See hall of fame threads) I am sure Blake will chime in....

Regarding the Nor Otor logo, (the otter) that's MPbdy's sister's design (I think...) so that's all him licensing wise.

The NoRotors logo is fine to use, I don't have any real issues.   If you're going to try and make a ton of money (you won't anyway, LOL) then a forum donation is always appreciated, but beyond that, it's not really any big thing, we're just a community here, not out to make money or be super protective of anything.

The NoRotors logo is just "Evolution" font, it's freely available.   The crossed out rotor image in the corner doesn't translate well to stickers/banners as-is, so I'd recommend making your own for that that will print nicely.

Hey I can send you the nor otor adobe files.

I need some more! FYI no matter how well I clean the surface the thin details always peel off. I had two decals for myself and half the face is gone from the second one.

I love the look of it being white outline on the glass, but need some suggestions on how to keep it on the car!!

MPbdy, if you want to do that, that would be great. What type of vinyl was it that you had issues with? I'm using 651 oracal and haven't had any problems thus far. Possible what you had was removable adhesive meant for interior decorating and temp stuff? I'd have to cut it myself and see how fine the details really are and if there might be a solution there.

If I can make a decent amount, I'll definitely look into making donations to the forum. You guys have all been amazing over the years and helping my fiancé through the build and everything. I'll be making my "ton" off of the girly female enthusiasts I'm sure. Haha. I just think you guys need decals and stuff over here so I thought I'd offer up.

I actually have the no rotor logo cut out for a test. It did pretty well surprisingly. But I didn't have registration marks on the backing, so I laid it out a little off. Lol. But practice makes perfect, right?

Yeah I had seen that decal thread and searched around and couldn't find where he ever came back and made them again. So that being said, I guess he's not coming back, or got out of vinyl cutting? Either way, I didn't want to step on any toes or anything. But if he's out, then I'll be happy to step in. It's not a competition...I just need to get on my feet with this business and get the word out/reputation built up. Plus, like I said, offering something to an amazing community that they don't currently have anymore.

Thanks for your responses, guys! MPbdy if you want you can email me at: j.elainedc2@gmail.com. for future reference, anyone can email me at the same address with custom requests and stuff.

Working on the otter now. I think I see what the issue could've been. When making it so small, the fine details are super duper tiny. I'm gonna do a test cut with some scraps I have. But I need to know what size you guys want them to be. The file is currently 12.5" x 12.5". Some of you may want it that size, but others i'm thinking not so much.

So, If I can get a vote on sizes, I will do test cuts in those sizes and see if my vinyl holds down the details.

Also, while waiting for responses, i'll be working on the logo.

Anyway, here's what I have so far. If this looks right to you guys, then I can adjust sizing and be ready to cut.

You know the windshield banners like you see on race cars? Usually a solid color, often with a logo. Cut to the shape of the windshield. Like this?

I do. That would be a negative space banner usually. unless you want the lettering a color instead of a cutout.

I don't even want lettering, I think, just a solid color.

BTW - if there are changes that need to be made to the drawing to make it work better as a decal please use your best judgement!

I want more in the same size I had.  Let me go measure..

spacevomit, I think getting a limo tint strip put on the inside would come out cheaper than me literally sending you a huge rectangle of vinyl to cut down to size.. Lol. But if you're looking for an actual color instead of black, I get what you're saying. All I would need for that is your dimensions you want, then i'd cut it to give you a couple of inches to spare for error. I can't get it to the exact shape and size for you..you'd have to cut it down some yourself to perfect it.

mpbdy, thank you! I was trying to use the picture you emailed me to get the proportion very close. This helps a ton.

Alright, here we go. Left the measurement in the screenshot for reference.

If this is approved, i'll make a test cut and see how well the details hold up at this size.

and here we have the website and logo combo decal. I can also do just the crossed out rotor. I know the text is black, but the decal will actually be white. or any other color vinyl I have in stock.

same goes for the otter of course.
