Haven't squatted heavy in quite some time due to some TFL issues. I am 8 weeks out from a competition so time to push through this and move some weight.  Hit 465 x 2, 485 x 2, 500 x 2, then 525 x 2.  Also deadlifted 585 x 2 last week, and benched 390 x 2(paused). These are all PR's so it should be interesting to see where I go over the next 7 weeks.  Just have to stay in one piece..lol

So I'm down with ending the calorie defecit, especially if I stay flatlined this week.

My BMR is right about 1650.  Sedentary calorie intake (which is what I've been calculating off of) is 1950.

Since i still have some fat I want to lose what should my approach be?  Deficit on off days and add maybe 250 calories on lifting days to offset the exercise...like a shake and a banana or something?
So how many calories are you consuming now?

Oh, 1500ish.

About 250-300 breakfast.

500ish lunch.

Usually some light snacking.

500-650ish dinner depending on snacks.

I try to keep 100-150 free at the end of the day to account for random mini snacks that happen when I walk past the kitchen lol. Just one bite here and there.

That is what I was worried about.  The problem is, you have stalled, and you are eating 1500 calories.... Where do you go from here?  You can remove more calories(Not ideal at all), or you can increase your expenditure(you can only exercise so much).  This is a very very common mistake with people who use these BMR calculators and start a diet too low, or people who have been on extended diets, and their metabolisms are beat into the ground.  I would say 8/10 people who hire me for nutritional consulting are in this exact situation. It takes me a good deal of time to work them out of it.

What I would personally do is start reversing calories slowly, and methodically, for a good period of time, and if you still feel you have some fat to lose start working them back down just as methodically.  You don't want to get to the point where you are eating 800 calories a day and still not quite happy. Not only is it unhealthy, and unsustainable, your metabolism is in such god awful shape at that point reversing it, without adding a bunch of fat back is tricky.

Thanks dude.  Yeah tell me about it...not gonna cut anymore calories.  1500 is my bottom.

I've lost 20 pounds since January basically exclusively with diet.  For 2 months I've been counting calories and keeping a 500 calorie deficit.  Before that I was just making better choices.  Once I started counting I started eating much cleaner.  I'm basically oats, fruit, chicken, rice, and salads right now.  And peanut butter pretzels.  I wouldn't survive without em...

2 months on a strict cut I could definitely see how my metabolism would adapt to it.  Probably adding some calories along with some exercise is the way to go from here.

Honestly I'm skinny af right now.  I'm just not leaning out as  much as I want to be in the midsection.  I worry sometimes if I've got some loose skin in my stomach from being a fat fuck as a kid and into adulthood.

Damn u have some discipline!

My fitness pal is pretty cool.  Also more and more restaurants are sharing calorie information.  Makes it pretty easy.  Funny thing is I really love food and eating out...I'm surprised I haven't really struggled except when I've tried to go out with skinnyfat chicks.  Need to meet a girl at the rock climbing gym lol.

I am just waiting to kill a pile of wings though haha.

Sketchy PR this morning. I know I've got more in me on a good day but it's been a really tough grind this week.

Still at it

Core is slowly getting stronger. I can now squat 300+lb (no belt) without my midsection getting a little wobbly.

Finally able to complete a 5x5 set at 315.

Also up to a 1rm of 375. Closing in on that elusive 405 lb squat.

Also getting back to heavy deadlifts. Hoping to PR 455 in the very near future

Thanks. My schedule has been so erratic lately I can't get to the gym with nearly as much consistency as I'd like to.

Hey project for your strength goals start doing some 5x3 training with a pause on the bottom. The pause along with the the high weight and 3 reps will get your strength up asap.
