Anyone ever use 295/30/18 R888's?
« on: November 03, 2014, 10:08:19 PM »
I'm thinking of buying them for all 4 corners, do you think they will fit without rubbing? They will be going on 18x10 +50 offset wheels.

In the back they will be perfect. The front will be pushing it. I have sumitomos HTR Z III's 285/30-18 and I'd say they are the limit on a stock body with rolled fenders and coilovers. Sumi's are 10.2" treadwidth and the toyo's are 11.2" treadwidth. Same wheel, 18x10 +50.5

I'm sure you want to be able to rotate them but I'd look at 285/30-18 for the front and 295/30-18 for the back. Personally if I were to do it again I'd run 255/35-18 F 295/30-18 rear.

Don't be a pansy.  They'll fit fine.

 :secret:

Truth though, if the focus is track use I wouldn't go wider than 285s and that will likely still rub some depending on how much work you put into the fenders.  For me to say "no rubbing" means, no cheating camber, desired ride height, taking a hard bump with the wheel at full lock in a corner and still not rubbing.  Your experiences may vary.

Reason I ask is same tire in 285 is $346ea and the 295 is $273ea.... Weird but bigger for less makes sense to me.

That seems like a smoking price. Run them and let use know.  :D

almost anything will fit if you are willing to "play with" your fenders enough.
Personally I'd just get them and toss them on, and hope you don't need much bigger than a 3 lb hammer.

It's rather common for 285's to be more than 295's. Supply and demand kinda thing. 285's are in higher demand so they charge more.

Like I said earlier, that 285 I run in the back leaves me a LOT (very close to an inch on the outside/why I run a spacer) of room to spare and I have not even rolled the rear lip yet. So I still vote for 255/35 and 295/30-18 :-) But you will have to roll the rear lip for it to fit(mostly because the toyos have a 1" wider traction patch compared to my 285 sumi's). And aftermarket trailing arms. No rubbing anywhere. No stupid camber either. I run stock height and stock alignment settings. Hate that "hella" stuff.

Have you bought the wheels yet and are you fixated on a square setup? Those 295's will never work up front without (see yellow van above) mods to the body/alignment.

Should also note, the 285's in the front cause the car to track (annoying as hell). The 255's I have run perfect.

I bought the wheels, and yes I'm kinda fixated on the square setup.  I really appreciate the info though.  My old track setup is 18x9.5 +45 offset with 285/30's no issues at all front or rear so as you said rear should be no problem, and I might just take a chance on the front... Or go with the 285's on the front and not worry about it.

Just remember those toyo's in 295 are wider than my 285's at the contact patch by exactly an inch. Not an issue at the back but in the front you will be pushing the limit for sure!

I ran them on 10" +50 CCWs front and back with rolled fenders (no push out). The front were fine, the backs rubbed a little on the inside, but nothing a little hammering couldn't fix.

I don't have any kind of detailed pictures of the tires and fitment, but here's pics of them installed.

I have to push rear wheels out about 5mm to clear my rear bbk, do you think it will still work? So offset will become +45

I had them on my car for a while they clear if the car is not slammed.  I did not like that tire very much.  The level of grip for the R888 is just lacking, but they last till the cords I can say that.

What tire would you suggest? I've also been thinking about getting the RE 11's , looking to stay around the $300 range.
