Pat- that's am amazing shot for a cell phone.

I would use my cell a lot more if I could control more of the settings to get the effects I want.
The cell phone cameras keep closing the gap.
DSLR manufacturers should start worrying.

I will admit those are using the HDR setting. The phone is a OnePlus One. Camera phones will never reach a dslr's low light capability due to aperture size. You can only shrink a pixel down so small before you inhibit it's ability to take in light. Never-the-less I really need to spend more time in photoshop and start learning lightroom. Your pictures just have so much more polish to them.

Your pics are certainly something to aspire to Mike!

Have you tried any long exposure astrophotography with photo stacking? I have the issue that even when holding the mirror up the split second gap between my shots leaves the star trails looking segmented.

I haven't had much luck stacking. Astrophotography is something on the fringe of what I've experimented with.
I use the 600 rule and up the ISO and use the widest angle lens I can.
Here is an explanation of the 600 rule.
http://www.capturingthenight.com/astrophotography-and-the-600-rule/

Here is a shot I took a couple months ago.
I was up in NH. It helps having the least light pollution as possible and the east coast and around major cities its hard to get good night sky shots.

Here is a shot from the Pinelands in NJ a year or so ago. I don't have a lot of good astro stuff. Not a lot of opportu I ties where I live between Philly and NYC

Not really in the same league, but my job has pushed me into the role of photojournalist.  It's small town stuff, but sometimes I get to shot something fun or interesting.  Using a Canon 70D with several different lenses.  Most days I have only minutes to edit the photos and post them with the story, so speed is important.  Here are a few shots from the past year:

This is actually a frame from the video I was shooting, but I used it as a still because of the expression on the face of the runner-up.  priceless....

Everyone can feel free to post up photos you have taken that you think folks may enjoy looking at. They don't have to be car related.

Some of you know about a friend of mine who owns a speed shop where I pretty much built my motor. Kilpatrick Engine and Transmission. (Bad Judgment Racing)
I'm also his Facebook manager (he gives me great discounts and lets me use all the fun tools like mills and lathes.  :D )
He's always got some sort of classic or collectible they're working on. It makes it easy to have to post to the page all the time.  ;)
I don't have a nice DSLR any longer so have to resort to my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge phone. (previous phone was the S4)
All these are with my phone.
