Lately I've been kicking around an N/A setup with ITBs...    I just don't think I can give up BOOOOOOOST.

In for the win.

So the 4v Cobra motor is a no go?

If I stumble onto one, it's absolutely a go.   But I can't justify the ~4000+ one costs that can make 600 RWHP vs. the 600 that a 5.3 costs that can do the same thing.

Ash, I think the calipers are different on the rears for the Cobra;  wider "jaw" to fit the vented rotor, no?   I had SN95 (GT) rears on the FC and I couldn't put a vented rotor on without changing calipers, if memory serves.

No, the Cobras just use thinner rear pads to accomodate the thicker rotor. I'm assuming you had pads for a GT and that was probably your issue. You will go through Cobra rear pads at close to the same rate as fronts :) GT rear pads are .660" thick, Cobra pads are .585" thick.

An NA engine with ITBs would look really sweet under the hood though.

Instead of vintage air, have you looked into the rear AC unit from a large (3row) SUV? Tahoe / Suburban / Escalade have the cool ones, but some of the large Vans have high BTU ones. The plus side, is that some of them have heaters built in and can be found in recycle yards for a fraction of the cost of a VA system. We've had good luck with those inside of vehicles with small dashes or behind the seats of regular cab minitrucks. Weld up some tiny (flat) pathways and run the "feeds" to the dash, under the seat(s). The trunk on that thing has some nice areas that you might be able to hide the actual unit, if under dash / hood space is at too much of a premium.

Looking forward to this project, restored a 66 and 64 1/2 a decade ago.

Wide body, Blake...  You know you want to.   Even just some flares like the Hoonigan picture above really complete the G-machine form/function.
LS2 stroker FC, Mandeville big brakes, widebody, etc

I am casting my vote for itb's, I love the look of those old motors with velocity stacks peeking through the hood.

Yeah, there's a 0% chance of anything more than subtle body mods.    I want a stock looking car that can hurt feelings.

Well that made a HUGE difference!

Some guy at a car show a couple years back lectured me on how you can't fit anything big in an early Mustang because "There's just no room".   Yeah...   ok.

The shock towers will be vacating the premises as well in the near future.

Nice new floors:

A smattering of the spare parts that came with it (bumper, glass, etc is here too)
