I would buy everything Powered By Max offers and put it on the car. They have everything you could want, from solid bushings to tubular front A arms.

Thanks largeorangefont, would a big rear sway bar help? Or removing front swaybar?

I'm not a drift guy, but I think most of the drifters just run really stiff springs and no sway bars. I don't think you want the car diving around so I'd keep all the swaybars to start out if you aren't putting on coilovers.

Again, I don't drift and my car is not set up for drifting, so I'm not really sure.

It's not just a spring rate thing, most people will report better stability in removing the rear bar.

The PBM stuff is pricy, and if this is your first foray into drifting I'm not sure I can whole-heartily recommend getting that much steering angle under the front. Mostly because it can likely get you into more trouble and develop bad habits.

What I would recommend to start is getting some steering rack spacers and make sure you have low enough offset wheels that you don't rub and play around with that for awhile. After you've identified your trouble areas and gotten the hang of drifting, then drop the fat money for bigger angle when it will suit you (typically means you've got more power)

Right now I'm looking at not running a front bar. I HAVE a rather good looking front bar,

with better than I've seen before stock endlinks (they are i think hard plastic? maybe?) but they have spherical bearings on both ends of the endlink.

Issue I have is the passenger side bolts won't loosen, they spin but I think someone tightened too far or tried to tighten instead of loosen and the nuts welded to the inside of the frame rail seem to have broken loose.

LargeOrange, Does Powered By Max make parts for FDs? And also, I don't speak Japanese... So I guess my question is... What the piss?
I was always told that "there is no replacement for displacement." But, then I learned that the replacement for displacement is Engineering.

They don't currently make anything for FD's. Nor am I really sure they will. Their focus really seems to be on older more affordable platforms. Preferring to develop for the AE86 corolla over the Supra or the FRS. And honestly if it was't for the near identical parts between S13 and S14's I'm not sure they'd have S14 parts just yet (though they can be had for cheap enough).

In reality they are after the larger market segments within the drifting community. Until FD's become common (doesn't seem likely given the way prices for used ones go) it's doubtful they'll feel compelled to do the R&D for parts. I foresee the next car they develop for being the Genesis Coupe or the FRS to be honest.

They used to do steering arms for the FD. They looked really sweet.

Will the steering rack spacers work with no power steering? Abercrombies website says they have spacers but only for power steering

Yikes.

You remove the rear sway bar because you want to use the front for roll stiffness and the rear for forward bite. Trailing/Semi trailing cars really hate rear sway bars though. I tossed mine in the trash too.

Powered by max is the local legend coil over of choice since its way oversprung under dampened. makes the car slide easy and feel go cart controllable. won't be great for actual grip.

Toss some sub 1600$ coils at it, Fortune, Stance, BC, pick your favorite color who cares. no stiffer than 8/6kg, digressive valving with helpersprings is great since every track that is cheap enough for drift events to rent is worse than the surface of the moon.
Assume your V8, spools work fine since you don't need the off throttle grip as bad as a big turbo 4cylinder if you're peasant just weld it.
Cut steering knuckles, don't jump into cut knuckles imo, they'll teach you bad habits if you don't know when/why to use the extra angle.
Solid bushings, every car works better when stuff doesn't move around all weird.

That stuff and a seat, George Marstonivic makes some good rack spacers so you won't have to jump into cut knuckles.

There you go.. Someone that actually knows drift setup.  :yay:

Good point on the softer suspension for the cobblestone grassroots drift days :)
