I would go with a 2005+ v6 base model - and swap the ls'es and other goods inside.

You should be able to find one with the right color and cheap.

Advantages
-Much newer chassis.
-Already painted with the right color
-Should be cheap
-Tons of parts and aftermarket support.
-etc

I like the E36 but I want do something older.        I really dig that Volvo wagon.

I don't like the newer Mustang much,  honestly.

Tetz's Jaded is where I got the color idea from!   Haha.

I was looking into the Ford Falcon for a while... Super cute cars and would be fun to somewhat make an LSX look like an old SBF... More sleeper status..

Yeah, I want a little more stock body, but similar in concept to what he did there.    VERY similar colors.

I've seriously considered selling the RX-7 and M3 and doing one of these but I think they're a little too proud of it considering the asking $$$.  Personally if you've got the skills/time it could be done cheaper.

I have no skills and very little time, but that's never stopped me before!   haha

Don, that is the general idea, for sure.   Less gaudy wheels and a coupe though.

Like Matt, I prefer the fastbacks.

How about a Porsche?
I've always loved the 928. I like a unique car to swap and the trail has been blazed so it would save you time with subframe and various other parts. But they have what you need for pretty much all Pcar models.

I don't think any Porsche beyond the Panamera has much in the way of rear seats.   The 928 kinda looks like an FC to me, haha.  :P

I know everyone likes fastback cars.   That might be why I like coupes.   The nice thing about it is that a coupe costs like 20-30% less than a fastback.

Optimally I want to find a 67-68 coupe, inline 6, as stock as possible with minimal rot.   I really, really don't want a pristine Shelby or some rare GT or anything since I'm going to violate the crap out of it and being special just makes it more expensive and means absolutely nothing to me.   I have zero respect for nostalgia, classics or whatever for anything I own (I don't have a problem with it, it just doesn't matter to me).  I want something that looks cool, goes fast, and seats 4.   The rest of the details are up for debate.  :P    I've always had a thing for early Mustangs, since I was 10-11 years old, which is why I keep coming back to them.   I really don't much care for most MOPAR stuff and the early Camaro is just WAAAAAAAAY overdone at this point.    I could maybe do a 70 split bumper Camaro or a first gen Nova though.
