you would be at around 10,000rpm.... We will see how the pump holds up once I get my car tuned....
You'd be surprised, the FD pump sees one helluva beating in our Pro drift car, same pump has lasted the last three years of pro-am. Any concerns, I'd just toss a cooler on it and change the fluid a bit more often.

I mounted the reservoir with a cheap bracket from lowes.  The bracket needs some more thought, but it works for now.  Bled out the air and took it for a short, slow drive (up to 40mph and 3k rpm).  It didn't throw the belt and it feels good.  Noticeably less assist at lower speeds and you can feel the caster pulling the wheel back to center which is awesome.  I'll take it for a better test drive tomorrow morning on the grocery run.

Yeah, I am going to rock it, I actually have an extra pump so if it kills it, I will just figure something out at that point.  I might replace the stock plastic pulley with a aluminum one, my guess is this could be a source of the speed limit.  The pump does cut off assist at over 3K rpm so I am not really worried about internals.  We will see when I get my car tuned...

Awesome! So would you say it feels better than the LS1 pump with turn one fitting?  I think it does but then it has been about 4-5 years since I drove with the ls1 pump.  I definitely like it better than no PS, not that it was that bad, just like it better.

In my opinion, it's significantly better than the ls1 pump with the turn one restrictor.  I've never driven a FD with a stock pump before, but this feels good.  The assist is much more subtle while still helping out when needed.  Took it for a drive this morning (in Mexico), hit the limiter a few times, and did some spirited cornering.  The pump, reservoir, and belt are still under the hood in the right places so I'm going to call it done for now.  :)

I attached the files used to create the brackets along with some notes.  The source code is messy due to having to make minor adjustments for clearance, but it gives anyone who wants to make their own bracket an idea of how it works.  If people are interested, I can start a new thread or post on wickedrx7's thread with all the details.  EDIT: I probably need to make more clearance for the recessed bolts...

KRC makes a similar (same?) offset 6" pulley as compared to Mazda OEM: http://www.krcpower.com/ecommerce/replacement-pulleys/aluminum-pump/serpentine/6-0-6-rib-serpentine-pulley-all-krc-aluminum-pumps.asp

If someone wants to donate/loan $90 to the cause, I'll order one and make a wickedrx7-style bracket for it.  If it works, I'll send you the bracket+spacers, pulley, and hardware for a small cost.  His bracket is a lot simpler than mine and has better clearances for the lines.

EDIT: Also forgot to mention that I took a 140 mile round trip with the mazda pump last week and it's running great.

Just a minor update that everything stayed together up to 6600rpm on the dyno.

To put a larger pulley on mine I will need to redesign the location slightly.

Yours looks great, but I wish there was a reservoir that sits on top of the pump rather than the side/front mounted setup both of us have.  I don't like having to loop 1'+ of line from the reservoir to the pump.  Another solution would be to change the inlet port on the pump with one that has an AN fitting.

After talking to krc, the non-LS 6" pulley looks to sit ~0.15" further in than the Mazda pulley.  A spacer on the pulley might be easier than making longer spacers for the bracket since the bolt heads are close to the pulley.  They also said they'd look into making a 6.5" pulley with that offset and get back to me.  At half the price of the fd pettit PS pulley it makes sense to me, although, it doesn't have that shiny bling-factor.  Doesn't seem like there's a lot of interest right now, though.  I might just move on to another project since mine is working.

Make a new thread lots of guys probably don't even know what's going down here. I also preferred my factory ps to the turnone reducer and gm pump.

Seriously, this is a great refinement for the FD guys.

Made a PS pump bracket thread here: http://www.norotors.com/index.php?topic=20551.0

Now back to printing other random stuff that has nothing to do with a MAF cover and posting about it here.   :)

Decided it was time to get my ECU mounted.  A friend gave me the idea of trying to mount it under the glovebox/blower.  My print area is small so I had to chop the bracket into pieces and only have the front half right now.  The plan is to screw it into some plastic standoffs that already exist.  The back mount needs work.

Not sure if this is going to work, but here's what I came up with.  It was hard to print this without adding supports as there are a lot of overhangs.  Fitting it on the print area was also not fun because the ECU is so large.  Both pieces had to be made diagonally and the back piece was printed on end.  It will likely be redesigned a few more times.

I still need to clean up the wiring, but the mount came out pretty good.
