You could have an air exit problem then. All the air out of the radiator is packing up under the hood and can't exit fast enough. You could try raising the back of the hood at the track and see if the temps drop at all, but a hood vent would be the best solution.

The Samberg radiator also leans back I believe which is not conducive to getting air evacuated either.

I've seen many many people chase their tails trying to throw parts at airflow problems with little success.

I have coolant under control on my car, but oil still can get up to 270 in the pan on a 100 degree day.

I think I might take the rear seal from the hood, that is suppose to help some with underhood temps.  I still wonder if there is a weird high pressure area forming behind the fans, I might put the undertray on to see what happens.

One thing to note, I am measuring my oil temps on the way out of the engine to the cooler so that should be the hottest point.  I would suspect temps in the pan are slightly cooler.

There is always a high pressure area under the hood. Removing your undertray won't solve that, unless your undertray goes past the radiator.

I dont know if the pan would be hotter than outbound to the cooler. Would be interesting to see.

I don't currently have an undertray but was thinking of adding it back and it would extend behind the radiator to try to eliminate the low pressure behind the radiator... Also, I am using puller fans and they are on on the entire fan, could that restrict airflow?

As far as oil temp, there might not be much difference between the pan and exiting before the cooler but I figure that is probably the hottest point in the system assuming the cooler is cooling it down by 20-30 degrees. What size oil cooler are you running?

Unless we are taking about race cars with aero, You will typically have high pressure behind the radiator, it is hard for air to escape under the car. The air backs up in the engine compartment. Without somewhere for the air to go like a hood vent, you could make the problem worse by making a very long undertray.

I don't know what you were trying to say about your fan. If it is on all the time, yea that is bad and stalling airflow through the radiator.

I have a Setrab series 6 34 row oil cooler. The core is 11.25x10.25. I have no ducting to it at all, it is just sitting in front of the radiator with a 2 inch air gap between them. I probably need a duct on it with a splitter to get air up to the top of the cooler. It should be cooling a bit better that it is.

I run a Howe dual pass radiator in my car with a Spal dual fan and shroud.

Typically, the hottest oil will be as it exits the main and rod bearings heading back to the pan.
As far as where you can measure it, there isn't much difference between measuring it in the pan or as it exits the adapter on the way to the cooler.

I do wonder if the proximity to the headers causes a false high reading.  My oil temp sensor is within an inch of a header tube.

Mine is in the pan where the oil level sensor used to be.

I think the pan is probably the hottest, as the sump is picking up oil that has time to cool slightly at the bottom of the pan, but it's not cooler by much above the oil filter.

Haven't done a lot to the seven lately, been messing with my motorcycle and taking care of house projects to keep the wife at bay.

Did find some time to polish with Adams polish... It came out great!  Still need to throw a coat of wax on it.

Very happy with how it looks for 23 year old paint!

and one of the motorcycle... this thing is fun!

How do you feel about the ohlins with stock sways?  I've got the DFV's and stock sway bars and feel if I were to do a track day it'd be too soft.  Autox I was nearing max stiffness on the shocks for ideal lap times.  With increased speed on a track I can only assume I'd want it a little stiffer.

From what I read the stock '94 rear bar is likely a good solution, but the front can probably use something better.  Just don't know where to go from here.

Some interesting stuff going on here. It always surprises me how much extra work is needed on these track builds.

Yes, I think they are a little soft or I need to go softer in rear. But before I do that, I think I am going to upgrade my front sway. Either going gi tripoint or might try skikky's adjustable bar. Haven't decided yet.

Did you try the undertray yet?

Years ago, when the car was a rotary, with the undertray removed, it begin to heat up on the highway.
