Need help from someone in Atlanta
« on: October 17, 2013, 12:46:53 PM »
I've found a M3 down there with a rebuilt title.  Ive received pictures but would like to see if anyone local would go check it out for me since Im about 6 hrs away.  Below is a link to the car.  I can set up something with the owner your you can call them and do it yourself.  Really I just want you to look for any rust or obvious things that need fixed.  I just don't want to work out a deal and be supprised when I arrive about an issue the car has.  I know there is damage to the passenger rear but according to owner that and the falling headliner are about it.  Let me know if you are willing to help out.  Take it for a drive if he will let you and rape on it or drive it as hard as the owner will let you.  I will be pulling the motor but I would still like to sell it and get some money back to fund the LS swap.

Watch for:

Vibration in the steering wheel (front ball joints/tie rods)
Clunks from the front suspension (front control arms)
Clunks from the rear suspension (rear bushings)
Clunks in the driveline (Guibo, not a big deal)
Grinding/whining in rear (rear wheel bearings)
Rear differential mounting points (they tear off the body sometimes)

according to him its all new.  Nothing was said about the Guibo but the rest has been replaced.

Guibo gets replaced when you swap anyway, no biggie.   Same with center driveshaft bearing.

Yeah Im gonna drive it for a little while so it would be nice for everything to be A ok.  The last thing Im gonna do is pull the motor.  I plan to have everything I need to finish the swap besides the exhaust on hand so I can do it in a few days and not a few years.  SNS 2014 is my goal and it should be way sooner as long as I get my FD sold in a timely fashion.

Don't everyone volunteer at once. LOL.  I contacted an Atlanta member and he is gonna check it out.  I gave him Blakes list and added some of my own.  Maybe by next weekend Ill have a BMW and hopefully can get the FD sold soon

I've owned two these and also live in Atlanta.  Like Charlie offered, I'll be more than happy to take a look at it for you.
