93 Ls3 Rx7 8.8 Cobra IRS T56 - lots of mods - norcal
« on: August 02, 2013, 05:28:38 AM »
So I've been thinking about selling my car mainly because I feel like I'm starting to hit the end point of the build now and thus I'm losing interest in it.

Don't get me wrong. It's not that it isn't a great car but I'd like to move onto other projects.

Anyways, without further ado.

I bought the car off dark-one last year around April.

His for sale thread was here: http://www.norotors.com/index.php?topic=7412.0

When I bought the car last year, it came with a turbo'ed Ls6.

Despite dark-one's "guarantee", anything and everything that went wrong with the car, did. Bottom line was that the car was NOT how he described it to be at all.

You can see my build thread for a longer explanation here: http://www.norotors.com/index.php?topic=11637.0

Long story short, I ended up almost replacing everything with brand new parts. It was a HUGE and lengthy ordeal for me but when it was all said and done, was actually quite satisfying. That and it provided an opportunity to work out all the kinks.

The mods on the car are as follows:

T56 with McLeod twin disc
Polluter cam
Crane heavy duty push rods and double valve springs
Al power steering pump pulley
Greddy turbo timer
8.8 Cobra IRS
Power Steering

The Bad:

- The exterior could use some loving. Paint is fading after 20 years. Also, front driver side fender needs some repair work done to it (car bottomed out before).
- No A/C - I have all the parts for it but no idea how to run the lines.
- Radio doesn't work. Not that you can hear anything anyways cause the car is so loud.

The car is fully dialed in to be capable both on the street and the track. I've put about a 1000 miles (all street cause I have never even been to the track) on the build since it was completed 3 months ago.

The car was recently tuned by Rick @ Synergy Motorsports in fremont and made about 412 - 430 hp. The engine is fully built though and is capable of handling turbo or a much more aggressive cam set up if you desire.

Title is clean and in hand. Registration was done back in March, 2013 so it's still pretty fresh.

I'm asking 28k obo or 25k without the seats.

Whats wrong with the drivers door/fender?  Any better pics of that?

Do you have any other interior pics?

Also, does the car come with the parts that were on the car when you bought it from darkone?  I'm thinking of the cage + Alcon calipers.

Thx.

Tillet B1 Seats   2,500 per seat

These are £1,073.00, which converts to $1662, from Tillet direct (https://www.tillett.co.uk/shop/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=29&cat=B1+Racing+Car+Seat).  I'm sure some vendors even carry them cheaper.  Besides, wtf was wrong with the Sparco's that were in it?

Fixed Rear Axle   40.00

Valvoline - Automatic Transmission Fluid: ATF+4   56
Valvoline - Motor Oil: RACE20-50   18
Red Line® Synthetic Oil WaterWetter® - Super Coolant: 80204   11

NGk TR55 Spark Plugs    29.15
LS3 Injector Lower O-rings   10.88
LS3 Dipstick   18
K&N Oil Filter   17.82
LS1 160 Thermostat    20

Seriously?

Built Ls3 - Forged   7500

Specs for built Ls3 are here: http://ls1tech.com/forums/parts-classifieds/1566270-fully-built-ls3-boost-extras-stage-v-flt-4l65e-zero-miles.html

Funny, because that sale thread says $6500

Tune / Remap - 900

You paid $900 for a NA tune?  It came with a turbo, you bought a forged low compression engine, and now its NA....?  And you call that the end of your build?

I'm glad I wasn't the only guy looking at this and thinking WTF. I just bought a car for the price of those seats, exhaust, and tune.

Woops. I probably shouldn't have just copy and pasted everything from my excel sheet without looking it over. Sorry for all the errors guys =P

I've edited out the prices on my original post since you guys seem to be picking at the prices of my parts rather than evaluating the car as a whole.

Price of the car is still at 32k obo with everything or 29k obo without the seats (since it seems like some of you dislike the seat set up I currently have in there anyways).

For those of you who have anything to say to me regarding things that don't necessarily contribute to the sale, I welcome you guys to private message me.

Thx.

Cage is gone. Alcon calipers were sold / traded awhile back on the build. AP racing brake set up was installed in place.

I'll get some more interior pictures of the car when I can. Car is parked in my parent's garage.
