What do you do with the original fan relays in the front harness? Do they get clipped?

Yes. If you get my fan controller, the relays and wiring related located above the front passenger side wheel-well can and should be removed.

I Can't decide if I want your ls2 ac controller. I already have an msd window switch but haven't made much effort towards wiring it in. If anything I have just identified the AC wires from the pcm harness I'm working on. I'm partially following a wiring diagram from pooch I believe that is stickied in the electrical section.
Any input? It looks like yours will be a cleaner package than what I'm piecing together.

You can definitely get by using the stickies in the electrical section. Hell, you can even build your own AC lines using my DIY if you want to. If you really boil it down all I'm offering is convenience. It's up to you to decide how much your time is worth and if you can assemble it fast and secure enough to make it worth your while. Of course the thrill of learning and being able to brag on your own work comes into play, but that's something you'll have to weigh out for yourself as well  ;)

To the LS2 / LS3 users who are interested in my control module. This does NOT apply to the LS1 folks.

After talking with a few of you I have discovered what I consider to be a downside to the design I have settled on for the LS2 / LS3 standalone A/C controller and wiring kit. My controller has the ability to trigger a fan output when the switch is pressed and the compressor is ordered to turn on. The radiator fans help to cool the condenser, which is most beneficial in stop and go traffic and low speeds. However, at highway speeds, etc it is more ideal in my opinion to turn off the fans and let the high speed air coming through the bumper inlet cool the condenser and radiator without being impeded by fan blades turning at a speed that can’t keep up with the air being forced through the condenser and radiator.

Ideally I would have a system in place to turn off the fan output when the vehicle reaches a certain speed. However, I can’t think of a simple and inexpensive way to do it in this application. Unlike the RPM signal a speed signal can be varied by a lot of things, so it would be hard to nail down a speed to shut off that would work for everyone. I think it would be pretty difficult to add a speed window switch to the mix. I’ve thought about it and even played around with the idea of designing a microprocessor based module that would serve as a RPM and speed window switch. I even built on that idea and realized I could pretty much put everything needed on a circuit board except for 1 relay to make the standalone A/C Controller. From there it could even function to replace the Dakota converter boxes people use to correct their speedo sensor since it’s already referencing the speedo signal and it would be trivial to modify that signal and have an output for the modified signal to output to the stock gauge. Still, that type of project would take a couple of months to develop with my current time constraints, so I’ve abandoned the idea for the time being.

I guess the long and short of it is that while my LS2/LS3 standalone kit will interface with the FD’s AC switch and safely control the compressor based on Freon pressure feedback and proper RPM ranges, its fan control is amateurish. Unless I’m mistaken, all of the DIY LS2/LS3 AC controllers of this type also suffer the same problem. Since I haven’t heard a lot of complaints on the subject I’ll assume it isn’t a terrible one, but I wanted to be completely upfront about it.
I’m open to suggestions if anyone has any.

Kinda off topic a little bit but is one 16" fan sufficient to cool once ac is turned on?

I have the Samberg v1 radiator with a single fan.

I also have the ls3 in which you are talking about. I know the fan control wont be ideal for stop and go but then again its not my daily driver.

this is what im talking about

Or would it be better to custom make a shroud with lets say 2- 8" fans

From what I've seen and read Samberg's single fan shrouded setups are powerful when wired correctly. I don't think the fan will be the bottleneck in your AC system

With regards the fan issue, we had the same thought process as you and didn't want the fans to come on at speed. It seems fairly comon to rely on a trinary switch to bring the fans on rather than the AC on request.

As we're building a RHD car I assumed it not worth joining this group buy, but wondered if some of the parts you may be sourcing could be purchased from you for us to final assemble in the UK?

The fan controller sounds great.  Put me down for one of those.  I've been doing all the wiring on the car myself following the GM and mazda wiring guides and everything is going well, but after FOUR YEARS (WTFFFFFFFFF!!!!!) of owning my garage ornament...I have really come to appreciate the plug and play solutions ;)

Man that's exactly the way my thinking works these days. I've got a transmission rebuild in my future and I keep going back and forth between rebuilding it myself or having a pro do it!

I'll update you for a fan controller.

Thanks and thanks for all the help you've been so far.

Thanks to Daniel I've been able to add Hooker 8501HKR cast manifolds to my list of supported manifolds / headers.

The hooker manifold joins JTR headers and LS3 manifolds (minus heat shields) in the list of supported manifolds/headers.

Confirmation on if LS1 manifolds clear should come before the end of the week. I've had more shipping delays (vender shipped parts to me instead of drop shipping them to the member here helping me out) so officially taking orders will hinge on that information.

I'll keep you posted here.

I believe the heat shields should fit with the latest setup I tested, but I'm not sure if it's relevant since I don't believe they clear the steering column on the driver's side.

I just noticed this and it is exactly what I need!  Am I too late for it or can I still be added?
