SBC to LQ9 in 1988 FC
« on: May 13, 2013, 10:35:13 PM »
Hello,
I have an old school 355ci SBC in my FC (Used a Granny's cradle and transmission cross-member), but I'm a power junkie and I'm getting a great deal on a 6.0 LQ9 short block which I plan to stroke to 408ci.  I'm collecting parts.  Does anyone know if a Camaro/Firebird LS oil pan will work with the LQ9 and clear my manual steering rack? Thanks.

It sure will... Also with the grannies cradle all you need is the sbc to ls adapter motormount plates.

You may also have to trim the inner gussets to clear the LS pan, its wider than sbc

Oh man, I started that same process 3 years ago, lol.  I did a write up on what you'll need to do to granny's cradle to get the ls1 / lq4 to fit.  Nothing hard at all if you have a grinder.  I'd post a link but am typing this on an iPad and haven't figured out how to do that yet...  Try searching for threads started by me though.  Good luck too!
