this thing is going to be a beast. if i may ask, why not an RB series? I know the cost difference is huge...but this thing is almost to wild for the sr lol

Thanks lads, I have been at this project since Jan 2012, the likes of the metal work have been done by my mate John Stone from Gripfab (Facebook) and the stripping, sanding, filling, bodywork is down to me plus the odd extra job :) The reason for the thread name is I run a page on facebook also entitled of course Team Chihuahua.

Why I went for an SR comes down to the massive availability of parts here in Ireland for them, with just what I have bolted on I expect to be running 400bhp+ at the flywheel, also the weight factor and placement of the engine was in my mind with regards to handling. I don't just want to build a monster powered car, I want to enjoy the car doing the odd trackday, if the car proves itself then at the end of the year I will stroke the engine to a 2.2 and change the turbo for 500bhp+ and possibly run the car with less weight.

I have a forged RB25 here for my RX7 (FD3S) that I plan on using as a daily driver for work, funnily enough that will be running 500bhp+ to start with :)

So while th car was in Gripfab the lads stripped off the subframes / arms and had them sent off for media blasting to get shot of the tatty surface :

As you can see they needed it :

Ta dah :

Shot of acid primer and gloss black and there ya go :

So like a kid in a candy shop I saw this pull up last night, sorry about all the pic's but like I said I was excited :p

At least she is making full use of the bed :

Back in the drive :)

It certainly is a tighter fit this time around, I may have to work in the driveway from now on :

Its hard to tell how far back the engine really is with the V-Mount setup so here is a better idea :

Plan is to finish the 4 arches first, once that is done then I can move on to the bumpers / skirts and the rest of the exterior. The part I am dreading is doing the interior and engine bay :(

Nice Build!

Cheers fella...

Small update, took out the lights and off with the bumpers, then she decided to get pissy and have a leak :

Rolled her out to start the passenger arch and take in some sun, as you can see I had loads of help :

Reckon I'm going to finish off the front end completely before moving on  :

Just grabbed a quick shot before pushing her back into the garage :)

Will get more done tomorrow :)

Great stuff. Love the Works. The SE3P rack looks pretty similar to the FD one, I wonder if one could do a retrofit, maybe for a diff. ratio.

@ Cool : With alot of patience...

@ Spacevomit : It is an FD rack, the SE3P is an electric which wouldn't mate to the SR20 ;)

@ Adam P : Yep thats the one...

So I free'd up some time to get back to the RX8 today, applied the last 50/50 mix to the passenger rear quarter so now I have a better idea of how it will look from the rear :

Repaired some damage to the driver wings and gone to working on the top too :

Passenger side is coming along good now too :

Popped on the sideskirts and I think they will suit the car :

Then decided to throw on the bumper to see the challenge ahead :

Balls :

Oh well here is where I have decided to cut, will get at it tomorrow, its time for some grub :

Those wheel chocks crack me up compared to the tire size lol.  But you do have one cool looking project there, that widebody is pretty sick.
