Mikes 03 cobra powered 88 fc drift car build
« on: January 19, 2013, 06:26:08 AM »
My name is Mike...Ive been building and fixing cars for about 12 years now. I really want a drift car to go out and play with and ive always been a mustang guy but the rx7 has been a love of mine for a while now. I purchased this rx7 fc  "se" model about a year ago for $700 not running. I worked and worked on the 13b got it running... it caught fire and almost took my garage out...worked on it some more only to be let down due to the failed water seals which made the 13b into a steam engine. Since then ive been working on her a lot lately and figured i should start a build thread on here because I havent seen a ford dohc swap in a fc yet.

U should not use the 12mm spacer and the wheel might actually fit. :-)

Cool swap.  Don't think I have seen anyone use that motor before?  Probably because its the size of a house, lol.

I assume your going to run the blower also?  Should be a freaking blast.  I wonder what it will do the weight of the front end of the car tho?

So, a 4.6 is 289. Your tag says 331 fc, which leads me to believe you are planning to use the 5.4?

Should be awesome.

Yes I'm running the eaton m112...its been stage 3 ported and pullied, shootin for 500rwhp until I can upgrade to a whiple or Kenny bell. Ya the 331 plate is because of my first plans for the car...I had a 331 stroker sbf pushrod set up i made mounts, drive line, almost done except for the dry sump oil system i was gonna do due to the Clearence issues of the oil pump and rack/pinion. I gotta get the plate changed :) I do have a dohc 5.4 swap in my 01 mustang

I did all of the wiring and PCM work on an 98 Cobra with an 03-04 Cobra motor swap.  Wiring was a PITA (Mainly chassis related, some of the lighting circuits on the SN95 go through the engine harness ????). With a pulley, long tubes, and a ported blower, it put down 517hp on a Dynojet.  Those motors sound great to boot.

FC/FD plug and play wiring harnesses, LSx swap AC systems, LSx swap power steering lines.
