I am very intrigued with your build, I have a 1994 3000gt DOHC that has been sitting since being hit by a moose a few years back.  I stole the engine out of it to build and swap into a TT stealth.  Even after building a motor and rebuilding the AWD trans and t-case (not done by many but you can get the parts from supercar engineering) I was never really happy with the car and I sold the stealth last fall.  The 3000gt that I still has sitting around has a decent body even though it was considered totaled.  I love the looks of the car but after swapping motors and doing repairs on these cars I am tired of dealing with a cramped engine bay and the downsides of the transverse TT V6.  I had actually thought of doing this exact swap (except I was thinking of keeping it a manual) since the parts for a 5.3 are readily available and cheaper than for the aging japanese parts.  Do you have any idea how much weight you shaved by going to a all aluminum engine, and loosing the bulky transverse transmission and such?  I know many peoples comments are that these cars are heavy but looking at how the front of the car sits up it appears to have shed quite a few pounds. 

So do you prefer an automatic or is there just not room with the way this car is set up?  One thought I had on the transmission, but its probably not very realistic or feasible, is going with a setup like a corvette where the trans it at the rear of the vehicle but then you would basically need to rape a corvette to get the funky drive shaft/trans setup.

Actually I went with an iron block 5.3, not aluminum.  That'll cost me a bit over 100 lbs.  However, overall weight SHOULD be something like 3400....that's a complete random guess though.

As for the transmission, I have the largest transmission option possible.  A t56 would be much easier to package.  However, I plan on making this very powerful and wanted to build an auto for it.  I may decide I don't like it and swap back to a manual but we will see.

As for the corvette setup, made no sense to me so I didn't pursue it.

probably could of just  mounted the engine transversely just like the stock one and some how mated the AWD set up to it.  That would of been pretty cool and probably not as hard.  I would also totally dis-guard the sub frame and start with your own design.

On your new steering cradle your steering rack needs to be behind it, closer to the pan.

your ackerman loss on the way you have it now would be insane assuming it didn't bind at 20degrees of angle.

The new plan for the setup will completely address the steering rack location and bumpsteer.  Old setup was junk but was a learning experience.

I have been looking for a twin setup for my 5.3 build and was wondering why you chose the T57? I have been looking at the s360 or s362's for mine and cursious as to your thoughts.

Did you chose the T-56 for packaging reasons?
