Tranny Shield
« on: November 30, 2012, 12:06:17 AM »
What tranny shield are you guys running. I am just thinking while at work and I think the only one that will work is the csr composite one cause of how tight it is wrapped against the tranny itself.

More directed at the fc guys.

I need to do this.  It is very tight in the tunnel, no doubt.  A little off topic, Digitalsolo has a driveshaft loop?
You can make a barn door fly with enough horsepower.

Retirement at last.  Wife's not happy, I bought a '66 Rustang instead of paying off my F150.

For mine I used a moroso drive shaft loop and just cut to fit. You also going to be running a th400 by chance Jim?

I have been around one of csr flexplate/tranny shields, hated that pos

I wouldnt trust a blanket type either, on bullet there are pics of tran blankets installed correctly and and it can still cut the straps when it lets go

My opinion would be an aftermarket sfi bell, that way it doesnt take up any more room than now where space counts (firewall area).

And then run a hard shield over the transmission, great plenty of room in the tunnel with a hard shield on,

Yes with a belle you need a tran shield still

But the shield is no big deal, tons of room back in the tunnel where that is at

Using the jw bell is what saves you the critical room over running a standard flex plate shield or that csr setup

Not that much more overall $$, better setup Anyway

After switching my powerglide case to a Reid case I was no longer required to use my TCI shield and still have it if you need one.

It is a TCI shield that bolts on the top for a Powerglide.I had no issues with fitting.

i run a glide with a bell and a tci sheild on one trans and that csr sheild on another .the bell and tci fit better than the csr  the csr with the belt is a pain in the ass with the strap  getting near the exaust and the shift linkage i would go ultra bell and tci sheild ..
