Soo Happy! Finally got a nice car to drive! BMW E39!
« on: November 20, 2012, 09:52:39 PM »
Man i'm soo happy today, I finally got my plates from the DMV and now my car is legit and I can drive it!  While I was in College I had the supermoto and an old 89' Mitsubishi Mighty Max Pick up.  The truck is salvage and beat up on all sides the bed is rusted out, no front bumper has no carpet door skins are peeling off.  No radio, AC, heater, power steering, winshield wipers the list goes on! Anthony "V8Rx7" can attest to the crappyness of my truck lol He is the only one who has seen and rode in it.  He even bought me a full tank of gas for driving out to his house lmao! I still love the truck and am going to keep it for a scrap metal dump runner lol

Anyway, I sold my supermoto and was going to use the money on getting a car and wanted an BMW E39. My budget was 3k and in that price range all you can find are abused beaters.  My brother works on them all the time and thank god knows them by the back of his hand lol  So i look on craigslist for about a month and everytime I go check out a car I can afford my brother says NO! your not buying it lol  I'm like fuck I want it but he saving me the trouble of buying a basket case.

After searching for two months I find someone selling a 97' 528i 5sp Black on Black with a salvage title and the transmission in the trunk of the car for $1200 lol The guy blew his clutch out and couldn't afford the repairs.  I ask my brother and he said atleast its cheap and you have some money to fix it so I rolled the dice and sent the tow truck 2 1/2 hrs to go get it!  After sitting at the shop for another two months my brother finally puts the trans new clutch in and gets it running for me.  The car was smoking like crazy when we fired it up and we thought damn It probally has a bad head gasket lol  After some new gas clearing the codes and plugging in the crank sensor that was disconnected the car runs perfect!

My brother tells me I got lucky.  The car has great compression all across the board and drives like a champ.  The interior is near mint for a car of its age and everything works except for the sunroof!  Little things i'll fix but It's such a nice change for me.  I used to lift the boot on the shifter of the mighty max in the morning to let in hot road air to keep warm, now I have a bad ass heater and digital climate control! lmao

Sorry for the long post i'm just excited as hell!  I even ordered a set of BC Racing Coilovers for it since It drives like a cadilliac at the moment haha

^^^ me too!
You can make a barn door fly with enough horsepower.

Retirement at last.  Wife's not happy, I bought a '66 Rustang instead of paying off my F150.

Rad come up, especially for the cash.  Hit me up for those BC coils, we have a wholesale distributor account with 'em.

Bought my E39 M5 two years ago from ablake211 on this forum. Best car purchase ever. When I get to the "minivan" point in life I'm debating a swapped E39 touring as an option (wagon). Enjoy your E39!

Why does it have a salvage title?

DAMN Jordan! I wish I would have know I already ordered them.  Next time I need something I'll hit u up for sure!  Not sure on the salvaged title I want to do a car fax on it but where the hood and headlights meet up there is a small gap so It leads me to believe the car was in an accident and was repaired at one point.

Thanks! burtoncr I really love the interior and the overall comfort of the car.  E39's have a classic styling to them.
