Had a great time at SNS 12, I only stayed Friday night and part of Saturday because I had to get home to do marriage stuff. It was thrilling.

Car got stuck in traffic twice for ~20 minutes of stop and go stuff....did REALLY well, temp was less than 180 the entire time.

On Wednesday, I was pulling out the HIDs to put in the stock sealed beams in, but we ended up not getting any power to the bulbs. After checking basic stuff, I called Blake who said I could drive it down Friday and he would fix them. Left around 2:00 and rolled about 80mph the entire way, except when I got stuck on Rockville Dr when I covered about 9 miles in 25ish minutes. When I got there it was right about time to eat, so we ate the amazing BBQ that was prepared by Brad (ShakenBake). Then Blake went out to figure out my headlights, after some serious testing, we figured out that it was a bad headlight switch and possibly bad relay.  In order for me to drive at night Josh (Sabre) modified the headlight relay so that it would be stuck closed. So as soon as you put in the relay, the headlights would stay on...and that was my headlight switch for the night. But I didn't have any gauges at all, so that was interesting.

Saturday we headed off to cars and coffee, where Curt (Theantirotor) brought a new headlight switch and relay which Blake promptly installed and I had working headlights again...well, the ability to turn them on inside my car. I left and headed back home around 11.30 or so...promptly got stuck in traffic for 20minutes but made up time by doing 80mph on the way home again.

A few things I did notice....1) My passenger sidemarker wasn't working. I knew I had left some 194s over at my parents house from when I moved. I swung by there after Tiff and I ran some errands and replaced the bulb. But the light still didn't work...because it was unplugged from the harness...I found where it should be plugged in...but it wouldn't reach. After some gangster wire extensions all my lights work as they should. Except my brake lights which are apparently the exact opposite of brightass VW brake lights.

2) The other thing was that my car at highway or higher speeds vibrated and shook pretty good. I attributed most of it to my wheels needing balancing...I had planned to get them balanced and get the car re-aligned before I left but without headlights I wouldn't have been able to get it done. Got them balanced and re-aligned, the steering wheel shake isn't there...but the car still vibrates and stuff above 80mph. Not sure what to check next...could it be NVH from the new diff mounts?

A few new pics...

New sticker!! (Finally got around to installing)

Last minute headlight action...

I lost my fuse box cover in the wiring shenanigans at SNS12, I had gone into the house to look for 194s I came out and my Dad had duct taped my fuse box to "waterproof" it....

Cars n Coffee

And On Sunday I went too early to balance my tires so I was killing time....

So, new theory on the vibration/car falling apart feeling...

Last year Blake put all new bushings on the car, including stiff diff mount bushings. So, the theory is if my driveshaft is unbalanced (very good possibility) that all that vibration is being transferred to the diff then to the car through the stiff bushings, thus causing the bad juju!

So, I'll pull the DS in the no free time that I have and get that taken care of. Haha.

Sidenote: After the headlight shenanigans at SNS12, my brights are no longer working. When my lights are off though, I can pull the stalk and I can see my FTP lenses light up. So not really sure what's going on...

Drew,

Make sure that driveshaft is seating correctly against the diff flange also.  I know it had issues previously.   Might just need the center bore on the driveshaft flange clearanced a little bit.

On the brights, bring the car by sometime and we'll test the other relay and the behavior.  Maybe we just jacked up the wiring somewhere when we were testing/rewiring.

Good call, I remember we just threw some washers on there to try and get it to mate properly, so they may be off. I'll check.

As far as the wiring, it's not really that big of a deal. Only got another month or so left of driving it. (Although I am dailying it right now. Lulz) If you want to check it out now I can swing it by though.

Oh, and think I got a lead on storing it in my buddies pole barn (not Damon-style, but close enough) up in South Whitley. I'm gonna talk to him when I see him at my wedding on Saturday...how do you say no to the groom on his wedding day??? Lololol

Been daily driving this since SNS.

Other than cold starts, it does really well. Except I have no radio and I refuse to burn another cd, so I now know Kanye's "Graduation" album by heart.  I'll have to check into why I can't get radio reception this winter.

And one photo...

Took that where we did our first look wedding pics last week. :D

Drew, did the radio ever work?  I thought we had that setup?   I probably forgot to plug the antenna in last time the dash was out or something silly.

I don't think so...I got the adaptors/connectors you told me to get and then we probably forgot to hook them up. Who knows? Haha.

Back from the dead, muthafuckas!

Blake doesn't know this but I'm about to text him to see when we can get this turd over to his place to start working on it.

Also, priorities have changed...Gonna try to pay off school and save money as opposed to build more debt and go faster. So we'll be doing just the basic stuff to make this as streetable and friendly as possible. No hand-ported heads, donkey dick cam, anything like that. Just get it to 100% and make it as happy as possible.
