Get on YellowBullet.   There is a huge thread with racecar wiring.    Great for ideas.   :)

Link to this thread?

I think he is talking about this thread:

Yep, sorry, I was lazy and didn't go search for it.   That'd be the one.   Some really nice work in there.

That panel looks pretty good. I am about to start rewiring my car and plan on doing something similar. I would advise sitting down and figuring out a wiring diagram first as well, also decide how many amps each circuit will see and how long the run of wire will be so you can use correct wire sizes.
Being aircraft avionics background I also highly advise you scrutinize your routing, use plenty of stress relief, chafe wrapping anywhere it gets close to other structures and use grommets where it passes through metal.

I'm sure you already know most of that, but this is something you only want to do once.  :D Do it right.

And make sure to take plenty of pics for us to seeeee  8)

Once my cage is done, trying to figure out all my wiring will be next so I can start getting my interior together.....but I've been looking into the Racepak Smartwire.  Anyone have any experience with it?  Cough* JORDAN INNOVATIONS *Cough?  Just curious...I love reading threads about wiring since I have no background in Avionics or EE.  That last pic looks nice...but it also looks heavy.  I'm hoping to save weight with the Smartwire, just worried that it may not have enough ports available for a street car with all the street car requirements.  Race cars can get away with so much less.

I don't get why some people (who charge a lot of money for stuff like that) do some of the things they do.  That being said, I've seen a lot worse.

The SmartWire had some teething issues... the first batch just didn't work lol.  PDM's have been around and there are a few people making them, but Racepak brought theirs to market at about $1k less than the competition, then had manufacturing difficulties or something and recalled the first run, and it's been years since.

Supposedly they're all squared away now, I actually have a drag racing customer who's going to bring his Outlaw 10.5" Supra in for engine/chassis/SmartWire wiring in the next couple weeks and will report back.

In the mean time, Life Racing has an amazing PDU that's fairly cheap for the important stuff that you need DAQ on or need to PWM, then you can run relays/switches for anything else http://www.liferacing.com/?page_id=29

That stuff looks cool but seems a little overkill..
regular relays are simple and work fine, plus easy to replace if they go bad

Nice, AF here. Was working on ec130's for awhile, now I'm with a hh60 rescue squadron.
