Fuel pump control on a E38 PCM
« on: June 08, 2012, 06:43:13 PM »
I finally got my car to run, but I'm having to hardwire my fuel pump. I've hooked in the fuel pump relay signal as it was on the stock FD (computer sinks the pin to ground to turn the pump on).  I'm getting 12v at the FP wire no matter what I try.

Does anyone know if the E38 PCM provides power rather than ground to turn on the pump? I know it uses a fuel pump control module in the stock setup, but is there a way around it? Is there a setting in HPtuners that will allow me to operate the relay in a traditional manner?

Thanks,
Ryan

It would be better to rewire the fuel pump and bypass all the stupid fuel pump resistor crap found on the FD. Look at my LS2 wiring thread. I have a diagram of the "fuel pump mod" wiring.

Oh, that's all long gone!!!

I looked at someone's ls2 wiring thread (maybe yours) earlier and completely over looked the ground on the "car" side of the relay.  I think I'm good to go.  Thanks.
