Glad to see this thing still going, mine hasn't even been finished yet.  Have you gotten a hood to fit on with that motor in there?  It doesn't look like mine will clear the cam gears.  And one last thing, have you thought about o-ringing the head and block?  It might help if you are consistantly having head issues.

I trimmed the stock turbo hood scoop and the cam gears/cover fit right in the scoop.

You can see the cam cover is the below shot (scoop was off for painting)

Here's a couple shots of the cam cover cutout.   I usually run a cam cover, the front of my engine is off trying to find a leak

Got a chance to drive the car some more this week after the head gasket replacement since the weather was in the 50's.  Runs strong at about 17 psi (last motor ran 30+).   I turned it all the way down to get some miles on the motor.

Let my son drive it for the first time.   Handled the heavy clutch like a pro.   Even broke them loose in second gear, didn't panic, got out of it and got traction and then leaned on it again.    After about 20 min of driving and we were home  he said "ain't gonna lie, I was scared the whole time".   Then I told him the boost was set about half and all he said was oh shit.   I was grinning for 3 hours.

Here's one of the runs

Update on the Dash Pod.   Still need to work on forming the aluminum cover as well as integrating the shift light

Motor had a pretty good oil leak.   Took the front timing covers off and drive around because I thought the crank seal was leaking.   Looks like the valve cover wasn't sealing and ran down the front of the block.   Ordered new cover and then winter actually set in so looked for other things to work on.

Redid my dash bezel, the center stack and the idiot light surround.   Glued and the cracks with panel adhesive, filled the holes with stranded bondo and sprayed it with Rustoleum Bed Liner.   Added a check engine light since my Mitsu ECU uses one and I can program it as a knock warning light.

Looks pretty decent.

Patched the hole where the cruise went (I think it was cruise)

Isn't the bed liner awesome stuff! It looks great and covers up imperfections well. Even respraying and correcting overspray is easy. GJ on the repairs.

I like the look, but just how rough is the texture?  How does it feel?

It covers some imperfections but you have to still have a pretty smooth base.   I spray it light just so I get some texture.

It's a little rough to the touch at the beginning but after a few months in the sun it kinda of smooths out and softens.    We did this technique on my sons 944.   The dashes and upper door cards take a beating from the sun so we had to do something to freshen it up for him for next to no money.   It's held up really good, I think at least 2 years so far.

Well when you start it...let me know.    I've been looking at building a 2.4L turbo setup.   Been doing research on wiring, clutch, trans etc.

Got the first print done of the latest revision at work in Nylon.   I'm got to probably dye it black.

Still working out a pin arrangement/retainment for the shift pill wiring

Front came out pretty clean looking.   High output LED for the light.   Hopefully it is visible in sunlight.

I'll eventually powdercoat the AL faceplate semi-gloss black.

You may want to look at anodizing.  It's tougher than powder, and may be cheaper as well.
