I'd love to see the setup....new ideas always help!

For a clutch, I'm running a Fidanza al flywheel, ACT 2600 clutch and a 3000207 (MX-5) pressure plate.   I've had the flywheel machined for the RX7 pilot bearing.  Depending on how the setup stacks up, I may need to make a spacer between the crank and flywheel to make up for the adapter plate thickness.   The intial mock up with a piece of 1/2plywood for the adapter looked pretty good....

Its was Jean. He had twin china 50 trims on it. He ran it back in the shootout maybe 3 years back. It went low 11s I believe. It was a complete budget build. It was a rx7 manual trans to a 4g wideblock.

There was a 4g powered rx7 that a guy in cleveland ohio built a couple years ago, I hit him up on another board getting ideas for mine as thats the route I plan to go.  He sent me a couple pics and vids if anyone is interested in seeing them, I can see if I still have the links and post them up.  AFAIK he used the wideblock 4g, changed the pistons and ran the turbo head and I'm hearing he had twins set up on it for a while.
Now back to the topic, I can't wait to see yours finished op.  I'm interested in seeing what you use for a clutch setup seeing as to how your using a trans adapter.

It was JP's car, I was going to buy it from him at first then I found it again in FL.
If you RWD the 7, T-56 and then at least a 62mm on it. It's cheap to go T3, if you are gonna stay that low powered I'd leave it in an awd dsm.

I don't understand...IF i RWD the 7??    I'm not making it AWD and I don't understand the low powered statement either.

Well I got the front brake lines redone and the line lock plumbed in.   I had to move the stock proportioning valve to the shock tower so my intake plenum would clear.

Sorry I'm an idiot. I was meant to say if you are going thru the hassle of making a RWD 4G63 you might as well put it to good use and make some power/TQ.

Sweet project! All that work for 16g power seems sad though. The E316g prices have gone way up lately. I'd sell that sucker off and buy a cheap Hx35 or HX40. BEP makes the bolt on housings so you wouldn't have to redo the downpipe/wg or replace the manifold. I paid $325 shipped for my HX40. Trapped 124 in my full weight talon last time out. I've seen 150+ traps with a junkyard hx40 in fairly heavy AWD talon as well. Hell of a turbo for the money.

Just an idea... Looks great!  :D

I have a nice inlet filter setup for that 16g if your interested. I'd give you a smokin deal.  3" alum S-pipe, vibrant filter, velocity cone and couplers (coupler necks down to 16g inlet size).

Nice build.  I modified my pivot ball to make up for the 1/2" adapter plate on my swap.  I basically cut it and welded a piece in to space it out.

Forcefed....thanks, but I already have a fabbed up 3" intake that sucks air from the brake duct under the RF headlight.

Bean4g63, been following your build thread on RX7club-nice ride.   I was just looking at my flywheel setup and was wondering whether to build a spacer between the crank and flywheel to make up for my adapter thickness.   I was a little concerned with having enough trans input shaft engagment with the friction disk.   But then I would have to move the starter 1/2 rearward to engage the disk.   Did you have any problems with your setup?   Did you run a ACT disk (3000207)?   EDIT****nevermind your' running a twin disk.*****

Im running an ACT flywheel machined for the Exedy triple.  My input shaft engages the disks and pilot bearing fine.  I did add a little less then 1/2" to the piece the TOB rides on.  If you don't add that 1/2" then if you have alot of clutch travel (like the ACT's need in order to shift) your TOB can get hung up on the end of the shaft.

I'm thinking about having the bellhousing machined 1/2" to move it toward the engine and make up for the plate thickness.    I ordered some 14mm bits for the dowl holes and started modeling/laying out the bolts holes in ProE so I can start cutting aluminum.

My buddy did that when he swapped a 350z trans into his 240.  Worked perfect.

Here a picture of the engine stripped after pulling it out of my old Talon. Parts on the table are for sale!  8)

Here the engine cleaned up and painted. Still need to figure out whether to strip the valve cover and go with brushed aluminum look.

Got the engine adapter finished after getting 9/16" machined of the bellhousing. Found a local guy that has a Bridgeport in the basement of his hardware store.  I had to make up a dial indicator setup to center it. I got it within .006" which I don't think is too bad hand drilling the locating dowls after bolting the assembly together.   .010" total seems to be the limit.   I might buy some adjustable dowls to center it better but it's probably close enough.

Trying to work out my fuel system.   Adding AN fitting to the stock line to run to my DSM fuel rail.   Which line is the feed and which is the return?   Mine are cutoff at the firewall.   One line has a bubble end and a hose stop ridge about 1" down the pipe.   I assume that would be the low pressure return side?   The small -3 line I assume is the vent from tank to emmisions charcoal tank (which is gone)
