Makes sense that it really IS Teflon.  A Teflon PVC mixture does not make any sense chemically.  The paragraph I read had some marketing BS that got in the way of the science of the matter.

I have pretty mixed feelings about the PVC insulation.  I think it would take a very long time to cause a problem, but clearly isn't optimal.  I am still shocked at the lack of people even asking this question.

I had mentioned it sometime in the past when I figured out the wire harness that came with my Walbro (and the fuel line, that wasn't rated to be submerged) were going to shit in the tank.

I agree though, doesn't get much attention.

That's exactly what I've been thinking.  So where did you find the PTFE wire?

I knew I wasn't making it up. :)

I can't say that I have actually found a place to buy it.

I just moved the pump out of the tank.   I used car stereo wire.   :P

All my Mil-spec wire is PTFE or other similar synthetics with excellent chemical resistance.  I can supply you guys with any length of any size you're looking for, if you don't mind limited color choices (usually white or black).

Should hear back tomorrow about a custom connector.

I just ordered 4 feet of teflon heart shrink from amazon for 10 bucks :) A company named zeus sells it.

I'll cover the whole length of wire with it.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with Jeff.

Any reason I couldn't use this wire? I have a ton of it at work

Type building wire is intended for general purpose applications as defined by the National Electrical Code (NEC). It is appropriate for new construction or rewiring for 600-volt applications. When used as type THHN, the conductor is suitable for use in wet or dry locations at temperatures not to exceed 90°C or not to exceed 75°C in oil or coolants. When used as type MTW, the conductor is suitable for use in dry locations at 90°C, or not to exceed 60°C in wet locations or where exposed to oils or coolants.

I wish these guys would make one for the FD. Apologies for bumping this up, I was looking for a solution.

According to this the squash rep is willing to sell the Amphenol connector. It's rated 40 amps I wonder if Jeff can get that?:

I've never seen that particular Amphenol connector (although I think I know what family it's from), and I agree it's perfect if there's real estate for it on the FP lid.  Probably not super pricey either.

Mil-spec circular connectors certainly work, but getting 'environmental' (read: sealed) ones is pretty costly.

Looks exactly like the one Mefari posted but it's half the cost and according to Racetronix they tested it at 20 amp from connector to pump.

I used a $4.64 Nylon part # 7807K13 from mcmastercarr. Nylon is gasoline resistant.

http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/118/841/=ks7227

this is the description from mcmaster

Fittings have a Buna-N inner grommet with multiple holes for cables, as well as a Buna-N O-ring. Temperature range is –40° to +212° F. Rated IP65 for protection from water projected from a nozzle and NEMA 4X for washdowns and corrosion resistance. UL recognized, CSA certified, and CE approved.

here is the thread I made with all the parts I used. http://www.norotors.com/index.php?topic=13519.0

Meant to update this thread.

Found this, seems to be a perfect solution and is made for this type of situation.
