Are they fiberglass and could you send me the measurements?

Well I caved and ordered lizard skin sound deadening and ceramic heat shield, pretty spendy stuff but from what I gather its worth it. I also pitched in with a couple buddies and ordered a eastwood fender roller, since I am painting I figured now would be the best time to roll the fenders.

I decided to have the antenna removed and filled along with the spoiler holes on the car. Hoping to have the interior all prepped for paint next week and the lizard skin done. I pretty much have the whole car stripped aside from the harness which is a huge pain in the ass to remove from the car, I havent even verified its possible without cutting the damn thing.

All and all it's been fun working on a fd build again, even though I am cussing at times...My Samberg stuff just shipped out so it seems I am going to be busy  :D I will update with pics as things progress.

I finally got done apply the lizard skin, both sound and heat versions. It was a lot of prep work and I am glad it's done! I hope it was worth the effort.

What do you guys think about ditching the stock heat shielding in the trans tunnel now that I have this? I dont think I am going to put the firewall mat back in either, thoughts?

I like the job on the roof that should help a lot.

I'd keep every heat shield I could, every little bit helps.    The firewall is more about noise suppression and that jute/mat will help with high frequency like the LS1 tick.

Keep the firewall/tunnel stuff if you can, or add aftermarket stuff.

Thanks for the input guys I will look into using some aftermarket heat shielding.

I got my spoiler and antenna holes welded up, sprayed all the faded exterior plastics and the car finally got painted!

Here are some pics of the progress

before the trim looked like this

and after:

Still waiting on the samberg subframe to arrive but I have other stuff I can do now that the body work is done.

looking sweet chance!!!

Not that my car's up and running yet, but I'd keep the stock shielding... those plates are thin and light and but I'm sure it helps dissipate heat, not to mention probably help protect your lizard skin a bit more. I think it'd be worth the weight penalty.

How did you address the hood clearance issues on your previous car?

I didnt, I planned to cut or tap the under hood bracing up a little. I may have been able to make it clear after messing the the hoses some more but it was barely touching after I messed around with it.

Going on vacation for a week and ordered a cam/rods/springs to throw in the ls3 while its out  :D, so that will be a nice to see when I am back. Once thats installed the motor will be able to be thrown in which means my carpet, dash, seats can all go back in(thanks trans mount!)

Well after getting the wrong cam and waiting on comp to not hurry to send me another, I finally got it installed. I have never installed a cam before but this was too easy of a job.

valve springs and rods installed for my new cam

and then threw the motor in, these things go in soooo much easier than a rotary, I love it.

Well I have been plugging away at this swap but I am getting very frustrated with the samberg intake setup. I messed with it for couple hours today and it just will not clear without pushing up on the hood. I dont really see anything I can do, I have tried lowering the radiator and cutting the hoses.....but then when I peeked through and look at the clearance with the hood shut I gave up and put it away for the night. Here is a poor shot of what I am dealing with.....

I had problems with the headers putting off so much heat so I am wrapping them this time around and also upgraded from 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 headers.

everything is coming together, I swapped my tII clutch type carrier into my diff housing. So now I have a 3.9 rear end, I have been watching mattsters "quest for 10's" So I kinda followed what he has done to hopefully get the same results...although I dont have any type of cage yet, I guess we will see if I need one.

Looks pimp man - I think Ls engines look best in red engine bays.

Thanks! it def has more pop to it than my black engine bay before.

Well I found out the ls3 intake manifold goes out further which is the reason I cant get it to fit properly. I bought a angled throttle body adapter and am hoping to get that to work or I will have to lower the radiator more.
