Junky throws money at it- complete redo of an FD
« on: April 07, 2012, 07:52:42 PM »
Completely restoring a FD that was swaped WRONG! There are issues that have to be fixed with this car associated with backyard mechanics :( I have the car nearly all the way stripped and the pictures are as it currently sits. I hope to have this build done by summers end with everything new or refinished. If you notice the firewall was cut to fit a FAST intake... any suggestions on how to fix it?

Please be nice this is my first time making a 'build thread'

wow lots of work ahead for you, good luck man. I have always wanted to strip down a fd like this and build it from the ground up...I just dont have the room.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys! the car should be heading to my fabricators place tomorrow to have the firewall patched. After that ill be lizardskining it before its off to the bodyshop. I will be using a burnout bumper/fenders and stock rear bumper. Im my spare time ive been looking at paint colors and I think I have a front runner. Ive tried to include pics from all differnt angles and lighting (overcast, full sun, inside, dark). What do you guys think??

Can't really see the hole on the firewall lip, maybe a closeup would help.  It's probably better if you cut the lip off that middle section.  I see most of the swappers doing it, including myself.

Ill try to get the lip picture up later today. its not just the lip that was cut- the firewall was cut about 2" tall and 8" long so you can see straight into the interior! I am planning on having a new piece welded from the inside.

I really wish someone would buy my cooling system, fuel system, headers and exhaust so this build can go Turb0!

Thanks guys- I like that color better than what is on it now. its currently the 3r3 toyota red from the newer toyotas. its a nice color but since im repainting the whole car figured Id get a color I wanted.
